Tackling has been an issue for the Ravens during the 2012 campaign. Some say it has to do with the limited amount of contact forced upon teams by the new collective bargaining agreement.
Others suggest that it’s all about technique.
Still others believe that the Ravens just don’t field capable tacklers.
Ravens’ owner Steve Bisciotti presented an interesting theory during the Ravens Rap show back on October 17, 2012 at The Blue Ox in Ocean City, MD.
Bisciotti believes that players have developed poor tackling habits, in part due to their desire to deliver the “kill shot.” The kill shot target is the head and with the league heavily policing and fining such hits, the kill shot has been redirected to the torso.
And the results aren’t quite the same.
Here’s more on the interesting theory from Bisciotti and former Baltimore Colts safety Bruce Laird who was quite the thumper in his day. And the thumping may have led to other “issues”.
