Sorry Ravens fans, the wait continues regarding the release of the 2014 NFL schedule.
On Monday, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy tweeted the following, much to the dismay of NFL fans everywhere:
The league pushed the 2014 NFL draft back to May due to a “scheduling conflict” involving Radio City Musical Hall; however, it’s interesting to note an early report by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter tweeted the following in February of 2013:
Sounds like that scheduling conflict worked out well for 2014!
Whatever the case may be, it allows Goodell and company extra time with scheduling to avoid what happened to the Ravens in 2013.
Here is what we do know:
The Ravens will host the San Francisco 49ers at M&T Bank Stadium on Thursday, Aug. 7 for their first preseason game of 2014. The following week, the team will travel to Dallas for their second preseason game (date to be determined).
In Week 3 of the preseason, Baltimore will host the Redskins before traveling to New Orleans in Week 4 to take on the Saints in the preseason finale.
As far as the regular season goes, the NFL announced the Ravens opponents in late December.
The Ravens will play host to the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans, San Diego Chargers, Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers.
The purple and black will hit the road against the usual AFC North foes Bengals, Browns, Steelers as well as trips to take on the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Ravens will play six games against 2013 playoff teams: Carolina, Cincinnati (twice), Indianapolis, New Orleans and San Diego.
Don’t worry fans, the schedule will be out shortly so we all can make our travel plans accordingly. Just hang in there another week or so!
