With the 17th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft the Ravens selected linebacker C.J. Mosley out of Alabama.
“There are some good players. Obviously, [C.J.] Mosley from Alabama is a really good player, a highly-rated prospect,” Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta stated at the Ravens pre-draft presser.
The selection of Mosley, the organizations seventh overall pick since 1996 from Alabama, reaffirmed that Ozzie and company haven’t lost hope in obtaining players from the highly touted university.
“Have I lost faith in Alabama?’ My son is still there,” stated Ozzie Newsome again at the Ravens pre-draft presser. “I think that takes care of that one.”
Per sports-reference.com, Mosley brings to Baltimore a solid collegiate resume. The former Alabama product recorded 175 solo tackles, 6.5 sacks, 5 interceptions and 2 forced fumbles in his college career.
“He fits into the inside linebacker competition really well. He bolsters us.” Head coach John Harbaugh told the teams website.
“I know we got better as a football team because of the way C.J. plays,” Ozzie stated after the select of Mosley.
“But I KNOW we’re better as an organization because of the person C.J. is.”
