Add Justin Tucker’s name to the list of Ravens standing in line for a new contract. General manager Ozzie Newsome told the team’s website that the Ravens would like to sign their Pro Bowl placekicker to an extension.
Tucker has one year remaining on a three-year, $1.44 million contract and can become a restricted free agent after next season. It was already known that the Ravens also want to sign nose tackle Haloti Ngata, cornerback Jimmy Smith, and wide receiver Torrey Smith to extensions.
“We’re trying to get these done, but we haven’t yet, “ Newsome said.
The Ravens’ desire to lock up Tucker is understandable. He has quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s top kickers, making 68 of 74 field goal attempts in two seasons, and 68 straight extra points.
