With the Ravens kickoff to their 2014 season against the Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium just days away, safety Matt Elam could not be more excited to get the season underway.
In fact, on Sunday afternoon, the second-year safety hosted a celebratory kickoff party for fans at the Modell’s store in Parkville, Maryland.
Elam was all smiles as he met with fans and signed autographs for over 100 people free of charge as he and Modell’s will partner up for multiple events throughout the season.
Being able to give back to the fans is something Elam holds near and dear.
“Fans put in a lot of time just like we do. They come to games and take off work and show their support for us so it’s important to me,” Elam remarked about his endeavor on Sunday afternoon.
“They are always true to us and always loyal, so it’s always good to come back and do these things for those fans and give them a reward just like we do on Sundays.”
Fan after fan lined up to wish Elam and the Ravens the very best this season.
“This is pretty awesome,” remarked Anthony Thompson of Parkville.
“Just to think that this time next week Matt will be out on the field playing his game trying to get the Ravens their first win of the season and here he is just hanging out with us on a day off speaks volumes.”
While Elam and the rest of the Ravens secondary will have their work cut out for them on Sunday, playing hard for the fans is something the former Florida state Gator will do day in and day out.
