I have a confession…
During the 2007 season, the Ravens were pummeled in Week 14 at M&T Bank Stadium by the Indianapolis Colts 44-20 to drop to (4-9). It was their seventh consecutive defeat and the campaign, to say the least, had spiraled out of control.
In Week 15 I joined thousands of other Ravens fans in Miami – probably more so for the Florida sunshine than anything else, to watch our guys take on the then winless Cam Cameron led Fins sporting a (0-13) record.
Secretly I hoped the Ravens would lose. I believed that Brian Billick’s career in Baltimore was finished and the time had come for a change – Billick’s self-fulfilling prophecy really.
Plus a better draft pick was worth more to me (and I’m sure secretly the Ravens scouting department) than a meaningless win.
The Ravens had a chance to win the game with 12 seconds left from the 1-yard line but opted for a game tying field goal to force overtime.
I really wanted them to lose after that gutless decision.
A (4-9) team doesn’t go for a win against a winless team from the 1?
C’mon man!
Eventually the Ravens did lose, handing Cam Cameron is only win as an NFL head coach.
How many head coaches can say they have only 1 career win to their credit?
Brian Billick was eventually fired during the offseason paving way to the John Harbaugh era during which the Ravens are 4-0 against the Dolphins with three of the wins taking place in Miami.
Here’s a look back at a couple of the most exciting plays in the series between these teams…from a Ravens fan’s perspective of course…
