Thursday was a special day for Donna McClain from New Haven (Ct.), Jennifer Lange from York (Pa.) and Debbie McCravy from Charleston (S.C.) as they were selected as “ALS Champion Caregivers” for their dedication and hard work as outstanding caregivers by the The Brigance Brigade Foundation.

“Caregivers serve an invaluable role in the lives of those battling ALS, and through this campaign, we were hoping to honor them for all of their hard work and unwavering dedication,” said Chanda Brigance, Co-Founder of the Brigance Brigade Foundation.

“Caregivers should be honored year-round, but we took this opportunity during National Caregivers Month to shine the spotlight on them. As a caregiver, I know the strength and energy it takes to fulfill this role and I would like to thank all caregivers for all they do each and every day.”

The Brigances, along with the “Brigance Brigade” Foundation awarded the three winners each a prize pack delivered to the winners’ homes, containing Brigance Brigade gear, an Amazon Kindle, Target gift card, and five meals from Let’s Dish!, an innovative store where you can order family-friendly dishes to be frozen and cooked when needed. Let’s Dish! partnered with the foundation for this campaign and donated the meals to the winners.

Many fans already know the story of former Ravens player and current Senior Advisor to Player Development O.J. Brigance, who in 2007,was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Brigance and his wife Chanda have made it their personal mission along with the “Brigance Brigade” to to improve the quality of life from those suffering with the disease and their families by providing needed equipment, resource guidance and support services.

You don’t have to go far to see just how hard caregivers work, sometimes it’s a family member while other times it may be in a workplace. These special people often go from patient to patient without even hearing a simple thank you so it’s nice to see them honored by this wonderful organization who works so hard, each and every day.
