It’s April Fool’s Day, so we have to be vigilant to not believe everything we read on the internet (even more than usual). So, with that caveat in mind, take a look at this tweet from Ed Reed this evening:
Just made it official! Thank u guys for all the support! #reeeeedtired

As I explained in my “hey mom & dad, we’re getting married” story over on Eutaw Street Report today, sometimes you just make important announcements without realizing it’s April 1. Perhaps that’s what’s going on; it would be just like Ed Reed to announce his retirement on April Fool’s Day and mean it, wouldn’t it?
I hope Ed means it, and I say that as a huge fan. Ed is my favorite football player of all time, and I wish he’d actually just retired after the Ravens won it all back in February of 2013.
However, looking at his follow-up tweets, it looks like Ed may just be joshing us. Or not. I really don’t know.
I just got a call from a friend, I was in pool with my son got tired and decided those that support me should know first, done #twitterfool

I guess my final verdict is…he’s April Fooling us, which is disappointing.
But, if it’s true, congrats Ed! See you in the Ring of Honor soon, and in Canton in five years. If it’s not true, well…good luck with whatever it is you’re planning next. Reuniting with the Ravens, maybe?
