During his recent one-hour chat with PSL owners, Steve Bisciotti went out of his way to speak in glowing terms about Haloti Ngata. Ngata according to most observers, Bisciotti included, is an iconic Raven who will one day be honored in the Ravens Ring.

So while complimenting Ngata, Bisciotti also made overtures that if the 5-time Pro Bowler becomes a free agent when his current contract expires following the 2015 season, the Ravens might be interested.

Some media members pounced on those overtures and labeled it tampering.

Bisciotti was an open book for 60 minutes and spoke honestly and from the heart with his best customers – Ravens PSL owners and this verbal expression of affection to a Ravens great is twisted into tampering allegations by shameless members of the media?

Bisciotti sidelinesThese are the same so-called journalists who can’t wait to break the news for the next player arrest but repeatedly ignore players’ contributions to the community.

Maybe these journalists aren’t invested enough emotionally in the team. After all, most will tell you that they aren’t fans because it preserves their objectivity. I guess it numbs their decency too. But I digress…

Thankfully the Detroit Lions weren’t deceived by the media’s witch hunt and read right through it, issuing this statement:

“The Ravens have reached out to us concerning the comments made yesterday by Steve Bisciotti regarding Haloti Ngata. We appreciate both the Ravens’ professionalism and the context in which Mr. Bisciotti’s comments were made. We consider the matter to be a non-issue.”

If only the sensationalists with a blog could do the same.
