Breshard Perriman – Finally a WR in the first round!!! Perriman really needs to work on his route running and understanding of coverages. He’s essentially a taller Torrey Smith with better hands. Hopefully Steve Smith Sr will take him under his wing and teach him all he knows. ~Nadeem Kureishy
Well, it looks like the Ravens were keen on replacing Torrey Smith’s drops early in the draft. Breshad Perriman is the ideal height/weight/speed prospect, and it is logical to think his pure talent could allow him to succeed eventually in the NFL. But his long list of inexcusable drops at Central Florida make him a true boom or bust pick. The Ravens talk about wanting to hit doubles in the first round; Perriman will either be a home run or a three-pitch strikeout. Only time will tell. ~Kyle Casey
I’m not sure if he was the best player available, but I think the Ravens get a good pick here. He is a receiver with blazing speed who gets a LOT of separation on slant routes. He is a little raw, but he has more potential than Torrey Smith. He could be groomed to be the best receiver the Ravens have ever drafted easily. ~Tyler Lombardi
For a minute there, I thought the Ravens were going to have their choice of Bud Dupree, Shane Ray and Breshad Perriman. But Pittsburgh lucked out again by having someone fall in their lap and Denver made the move to jump ahead of us for Shane Ray (though I’m not 100% sure Baltimore would have picked him). But in the weeks leading up to the draft, I never thought Perriman would still be on the board at 26. The Ravens have replaced the speed of Torrey Smith, but added size, strength and heart. Perriman has a tremendously high ceiling and frankly, I couldn’t be happier with the selection. ~Will Spencer
Interesting pick. I Honestly did not think the Ravens would go WR in the first round. I guess I bit on the play fake about feeling comfortable with the receivers on the roster. That said, speed kills. But so do dropped passes. We’ll see which trait Perriman displays more-a lot of upside if he can catch consistently. I’m sure the Ravens did their homework on that part. ~Mark Weingram
The Ravens replace Torrey Smith with one of the fastest receivers in the draft. While he may be raw his upside is as high as any pass catcher in this years class. Great pick by the Ravens. ~Ryan Jones
I love the BP pick. You can’t teach speed and this is another player that will have Steelers’ fans complaining about the number of pass interference calls the Ravens get.
The Steelers get a very good player in Dupree, but I think the run on corners hurt them more than it hurt the Ravens.
There is a reason why you will rarely see injured players drafted in the 1st round…you only get 5 years from that player at a decent price, then they play for market value. For that reason, I’m not crazy about the Bengals’ selection of Ogbuehi. ~Ken McKusick
Breshad Perriman has great size and top end speed. He also has a big catching radius and can go up and get contested throws. He should be a great red zone target for Joe Flacco but he will frustrate fans with his hands of stone. Probably a hard worker given that Michael Irvin is a heavy influence in his life. Doesn’t hurt that his agent is Drew Rosenhaus who the Ravens are comfortable working with.
All that said, I’m underwhelmed with the choice but if you were hoping for a bigger, slightly faster version of Torrey Smith, you got him – and saved $30+ million. ~Tony Lombardi
