Steve Smith Sr. waits until birthday to respond to hater who called him ‘washed up’

Steve Smith has always been a player with a chip on his shoulder. It is one of the main reasons why Ravens fans have embraced him since the entire city seems to always have something to prove. On Smith’s birthday yesterday, he responded to a tweet in which he was called “washed up.” Brett Smiley of Fox Sports discusses the response and how Steve Smith’s trash talk game is “second to none.”

Brady suspension will ripple through AFC

Bo Smolka of CSN Baltimore looks at the biggest winners of the Brady suspension including the AFC East and the biggest 2015 AFC playoff contenders. He highlights how the Ravens could benefit from the suspension if the Patriots get off to a slow start and how NBC will be a winner of the suspension. I don’t know about that since the casual fan may be less likely to tune in if they know that Brady won’t be starting in the season opener, but the rest of them I agree with. LINK

Ravens Still Looking To Add Cornerbacks

If you thought that the Ravens were done after the draft, well, you’re wrong. As our Ryan Jones has pointed out, the Ravens are still in need of some quality cornerback depth. Because of this, Kyle Arrington, the recently released cornerback of the Patriots, has been linked to the Ravens. He might be their guy to add veteran depth, but Garrett Downing of BaltimoreRavens.com says that Ozzie is also keeping an eye out for corners who could potentially be released in the coming weeks. Best Pick for Every Team in the 2015 Draft – AFC North

To keep you all from having to click through five tabs to find where the Ravens are, I’ve linked directly to the 6th page of this article in which Brendan Cassidy and Dave Holcomb of Football Nation have listed the best draft picks by each team in the AFC North. They think that the Ravens’ best pick is Maxx Williams regardless of whether or not the Steelers were planning on picking him. LINK

Ravens Cut QB Keith Wenning, TE Phillip Supernaw

In case you missed it yesterday, the Ravens have cut the former Ball State quarterback and the tight end with the coolest name in town (as well as OLB Darius Allen). They were replaced by James Madison WR, Daniel Brown, Rhode Island ILB, Andrew Bose, and another Alabama rookie, G Leon Brown. It was obvious that the Ravens didn’t trust their 2014 6th round pick after signing Matt Schaub this offseason. Apparently he hasn’t shown enough to even stay on the roster until preseason. With a now-crowded tight end corps after the selections of Nick Boyle (5th round) and Maxx Williams (2nd round), Supernaw became expendable, too. Ryan Mink of BaltimoreRavens.com has the full story. Jarret Johnson To Retire A Raven Wednesday

As announced earlier this year, Jarret Johnson is coming back to Baltimore to retire. He will officially sign that one-day contract at 2:30 today. I always liked Double J, but I never thought of him as a guy who would come back on a one-day contract. I’m glad he is, though. He was one of the unsung heroes for the Ravens defense during his time here. Happy official retirement, JJ! LINK
