Ravens Have Best Home-Field Advantage in American Sports
If you’ve read any study on this subject before, this shouldn’t come as a surprise to you. Time Magazine completed a study on the subject and determined that the Ravens have the best home field advantage of all four American sports. Sporting Charts did a study on the same subject back in December, and the Ravens ranked at the top of the NFL in that one, too. The full Time article is behind a pay-wall, but the article gives you the best overall without a log-in. Reddit user, /u/fokaimori took a picture from the magazine showing a chart of every team’s homefield advantage to show how far ahead of everyone else the Ravens are. LINK
The Team Behind The Team: The Firemen
Somehow, I missed this one when it first came out back on the 11th of June. This was the first edition of the Ravens’ photo-essay series, written by Garrett Downing and photographed by Shawn Hubbard. The Ravens employed firemen to help out back in 1996 when the team came to town, and they’ve stuck around through it all, helping out the team in any way they can (except playing and coaching, of course). Some of them are retired firemen but the majority are still active. It’s cool to see such an important part of the Baltimore community also be an active part of the Ravens’ community. LINK
The Team Behind The Team: Medical Staff
How important this group is cannot be understated. Garrett Downing and Shawn Hubbard help show us probably the most visible part of the team behind the team – the medical staff. Garrett and Shawn give us a good look at the process of rehabbing long injuries like Dennis Pitta’s, Kapron Lewis Moore’s, and Brent Urban’s, and the bond that they formed rehabbing together. They also give us a good look at the less-recognized – but just as important – part of the job: the daily treatment of players after games to make sure that they’re ready for the next week. LINK
Best of the Best: Derrick Mason vs. Qadry Ismail
CSN Baltimore is trying to figure out who fans think is the best Raven of all time. Clifton Brown gives a look at each match-up. In this one, it’s a battle between two receivers. This one shouldn’t even be close. Mason has two or more times as many receptions, yards, and touchdowns as Ismail. Mason is the best receiver in Ravens’ history, so he should win by a large margin. Ravens players who must step it up, or else…
Mike Randall of Baltimore Sports and Life looks at three guys who need to step it up in 2015 or they may be finding themselves elsewhere. Arthur Brown, Asa Jackson, and Kapron Lewis-Moore all make the list. While I don’t agree that Lewis-Moore is that much of a bubble player, Arthur Brown and Asa Jackson will definitely need to step it up. Those two haven’t seen the field for different reasons, but both will need to find a way to get some quality playing time this preseason. LINK
Best of the Best: Ngata vs. Rice and Suggs vs. Heap
These two match-ups should be much closer than Mason vs. Ismail, but both defensive players should win.
