Ravens, Texans not expected to pursue Reggie Wayne

A report surfaced on Friday that the Ravens might be interested in Reggie Wayne. According to multiple outlets, however, that isn’t the case. As Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk says, the team is happy with Marlon Brown, Kamar Aiken, Michael Campanaro, and rookie Breshad Perriman. At this point in his career, Wayne doesn’t offer much more than any of those guys. Adding him to the roster would only take away a spot from a younger guy with a more promising future. LINK

Crockett Gilmore vs. Maxx Williams: Baltimore Ravens Tight End Battle

The battle for the starting tight end position will be an interesting one this year. With two rookies added to the mix in the draft, the position became a lot deeper in early May. While Maxx Williams and Crockett Gillmore will both have roles this year, only one of them can be the starter. Shawn Brubaker of Baltimore Sports and Life determines who has the edge in three different categories: athleticism, production, and skillset. He determines that Gillmore will probably be the starter, at least at the beginning of the season. LINK

The Team Behind The Team: Team Chaplain – Johnny Shelton

In this week’s edition of The Team Behind The Team, the Ravens go behind the man who brings the faith into football in the Ravens’ locker room – Johnny Shelton. His office is located in a place where players often pass, which gives them plenty of opportunities to talk to Shelton about life outside of football. Shelton goes out to the field and gets to know players as they stretch for practice. Whether you are a person of faith or not, you have to respect Shelton’s commitment to the team. As he puts it, “I’m here for the long haul.” LINK

The Top Three Players On The Baltimore Ravens: Who Made The Cut?

This isn’t exactly the title, but we’ve skipped to the important part. Eric Wagner of Football Nation thinks that Marshal Yanda, Terrell Suggs, and C.J. Mosley are the top three players on the Ravens. It’s hard to argue with Wagner’s picks. He also did well with his honorable mentions. Elvis Dumervil and Daryl Smith made the cut there. LINK

Is Brandon Marshall Right? Has Kyle Orton Been the Best Quarterback He’s Played With?

Open it for the ridiculous statement that Brandon Marshall made, stay for the interesting analysis from Joe Redemann of numberFire. Brandon Marshall recently stated on Twitter that Kyle Orton is the best quarterback with whom he’s ever played. Which is, of course, ridiculous. Regardless of your opinion of Jay Cutler, he is definitely better than Kyle Orton. But, as Joe finds out, during the time in which Marshall was with the two quarterbacks, the comparison is a little closer. LINK

About Tyler Lombardi

Tyler has followed Baltimore sports his entire life. His favorite player growing up was Steve McNair, so he was ecstatic when he became a Raven in 2006. When he’s in front of the TV watching the game, it’s best to avoid non-football discussion. It’s quite likely he isn’t listening anyway, as his girlfriend can attest to.
