Why Your Team Sucks: 2015 Cleveland Browns
Drew Magary of Deadspin is back this year and at it again with another annual addition of “Why Your Team Sucks.” This time, it’s the team that has sucked in perpetuity, the Cleveland Browns. How much do the Browns suck? Let Drew tell you by talking about the coaching situation and Mike Pettine:
“And how did the Browns reward him for volunteering to throw himself into the dumpster fire? By having their moron GM send illegal texts to the sideline during games to actively b**** about Pettine’s handiwork. Only the Browns could find a way to cheat (and get caught and punished) in a way that offered absolutely NO strategic advantage on the field. They are the first and last NFL franchise to get punished for gossiping.”
If I were you, I’d read the whole thing, but keep in mind that there is a little (okay, a ton of) foul language. LINK
Ravens QB Joe Flacco gets Special Olympics medal from fan
Joe Flacco has spent a lot of volunteer time throughout the course of his career with the Special Olympics. He says, “Everything they do is just so genuine. You’ve got to love it. You can just tell how excited they are. They wear everything on their sleeve, and it’s really refreshing to be around them.” On Tuesday, a Special Olympics athlete named Stephen gave him a medal in return, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. Steve Smith plans to wound, damage, puncture
Steve Smith had some words about his final season in the NFL. He says that he’s playing with house money at this point, “You know what’s dangerous when you’re playing with house money? You don’t have no regard. I’m all in with your money. You know what they say when you’re playing with other people’s money: you just be reckless, you do stupid things with it. That’s what I’m going to do.” I agree with Dan Hanzus of NFL.com, who says, “I already miss Steve Smith and he’s still here. LINK
Former Raven Ray Rice says he took regular injections in 2013
While this news from NBC analyst Rodney Harrison isn’t exactly surprising, the severity of the injury is. Harrison said, “getting in and out of cars, he had to grab his leg to help himself.” Which may be true, but that doesn’t sound like something that would ease the worries of an NFL coach. Clifton Brown of CSN Baltimore has the full scoop. LINK
Principles, Not Positions: The Marc Trestman Offense
Mike Long of Baltimore Sports Report looks into the Marc Trestman offense. He analyzes the running game and determines that the same principles will remain in place, but they may add some more trickery to the repertoire. In the passing game is where the principles, not positions mantra comes into play. Everyone needs to know the whole route tree. LINK
