The smug elitists of New England will be in full force by the time the fourth quarter rolls around during tonight’s 2015 NFL season opener in Foxborough. The game will be decided by then as the Patriots win easily, 37-23.
And it won’t even be as close as that score suggests.
Tom Brady, marinated so thoroughly in his own cesspool of lies and deceit, will hide behind a disingenuous OJ Simpson kind-of-smile while fist pumping in a snotty little brat-like kind of way.
Robert Kraft will shake hands in his owner’s box with judges and politicians in his nauseatingly phony aristocratic way.
Narcissistic Patriots fans will celebrate in their traditionally self-absorbed sanctimonious way.
And Ravens fans will look on in a disdainful way, and try to smile as their divisional archrival starts the season in the loss column.
A Steelers loss and in won’t feel right?
We can thank the cheap, dirty and unsavory New England Patriots for that!
Yet a Patriots win is obviously the best thing for the Baltimore Ravens.
Who could’ve predicted this? Who would’ve ever thought that Ravens fans could feel greater contempt for a team not named the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Yet it has happened.
The core of the Ravens v. Steelers rivalry for the most part, is built upon mutual respect from top to bottom. The franchises while not mirror images certainly closely resemble each other and in many ways that helps to fuel the rivalry.
The Patriots?
How can anyone respect those serial cheaters?
Like you, I’ll watch with great interest tonight, mostly because these are two competitive teams and because (thankfully) the regular season will be officially underway.
But when all is said and done and the Patriots hang a “W”, I’ll be content because in the end that plays out better for the Ravens.
And then I’ll take a shower.
