The last time the Baltimore Ravens started a season (0-2) was back in 2005 under the guidance of Brian Billick and then third-year signal caller Kyle Boller. The team finished at (6-10), never challenged and at one point they were (4-9).
This week the (0-1) Ravens travel to the Oakland Coliseum, aka The Black Hole, to take on the (0-1) Raiders. Some will say that it’s too early in the season to label a game a “must win” but history suggests otherwise.
Since 1990 #NFL teams that start 0-2 fail to make the playoffs 88.3% of the time. (24 of 205 teams starting 0-2 made it to the postseason)

That’s an 88% bracket that I’m sure John Harbaugh would like to avoid.
Fortunately for the Ravens they’ve been successful when taking on the Raiders and sport a 6-1 record against Oakland, winning four straight. The last time the Ravens lost to the silver and black was on December 14, 2003 when the Anthony Wright led Ravens fell to the 1993 2nd overall pick, the great Rick Mirer, by the score of 20-12.
It’s nice to have history on your side but it’s more important to get it done on the field. And no matter what anyone tells you folks, make no mistake about it – Sunday is a must win situation for Joe Flacco & Company.
Hey speaking of history, can anyone recall the last time a team featured a 36-year old punt returner?
