10 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Targets Heading Into Week 4
If you feel like you’re in a weird parallel universe this season, let me add to it. As the Ravens head into Pittsburgh to face the Steelers, Joe Flacco is a good fantasy football waiver wire pick-up. That’s right: in the current NFL season, you should add Joe Flacco in fantasy football, and the Ravens are 0-3. I prefer the old way where we’re winning and Flacco is fantasy garbage.
Anyway, besides Joe, Ryan Ward of numberFire gives us some pretty good options who are probably available on waivers in your league, including Titans RB Antonio Andrews, who appears to be the lead back, and Rishard Matthews, who has developed a good rapport with Ryan Tannehill in Miami.
Fantasy football: Steve Smith is dominating – trade him now
This is coming from a Panthers fan who loves Steve Smith, so he isn’t just being a hater. Drew Loftis of NY Post points to Smith’s last 10 games last year, in which he only scored twice and didn’t post any 100-yard games (although he did have a 100-yard game in the real playoffs, not the fantasy playoffs). He has a point. With an aging body which required IV fluids in order to keep going against Cincinnati, Smith owners (and Ravens fans in general) may feel a bit of a burnout with him after the next couple of weeks.
If I owned him, I would hold onto him for this week then try to trade him. I’d expect another big game against the Steelers’ wretched pass defense.
How Bad Has Andrew Luck Been in 2015?
The metric, Net Expected Points (NEP), which valuates players cumulatively by how they contributed to their team’s expected points with each play they make, hasn’t exactly been Andrew Luck‘s biggest fan thus far in his career. His NEP last season was 110.33, ranking 7th in the NFL. Which is good, but not quite at the elite level. His success rate, which measures the percentage of plays that Luck contributed positively to the team’s NEP, was below 50%, which was good for 17th in the league.
This year, however, he has been bad, ranking 19th in Passing NEP (4.96), 21st in Passing NEP per drop-back (0.06), and 26th in Success Rate (42.05%) before Sunday’s game with the Titans, which won’t exactly help him despite the late heroics.
The case for – and against – Michael Vick as your fantasy quarterback
If you are a Ben Roethlisberger owner (shame on you, traitor), you are probably scrambling to find yourself a viable quarterback for a few weeks. You may be considering Michael Vick to fill the void. I don’t think it’s a good idea, but you may be forced into it, especially those of you in two quarterback leagues. If you are in a single quarterback league, Scott Engel of NY Post thinks that you should try guys like Derek Carr, Joe Flacco or Andy Dalton first if they are still available.
15 Fantasy Football Transactions for Week 4
The Ravens are looking at 4/5 good match-ups for Justin Forsett moving forward. While the Steelers aren’t exactly a great match-up on the ground, they can be exploited through the air from the running back position. For that reason, JJ Zachariason of numberFire thinks that you should hold onto him. JJ also thinks that you should add Joe Flacco. Some of his other transactions include selling Joseph Randle, Jeremy Hill, and Devonta Freeman, and adding Lance Dunbar, Rishard Matthews, and Antonio Gates.
Fantasy Aftermath
This is pretty cool. This site shows who outperformed their projections each week in fantasy points, yards, TDs, and INTs. Guess who outperformed their projection the most in passing yards.
