The Ravens react to three questionable calls. There were some equipment issues that hindered the communication between Joe Flacco and Marc Trestman on the final drive. Ed Reed would consider a coaching job at University of Miami. Mike Preston sees improvement in the Ravens’ secondary. Grantland considers the Ravens the 16th best team in the league. Chris Canty has one of his best games.
Ravens React to Questionable Referee Calls
Surely, our Adam Bonaccorsi, who writes The Ruling on the Field, will have plenty to say because of this game. The referees missed quite a few blown calls. First, there was the head referee, Ron Torbert, missing a clear indication from John Urschel that he was reporting as an eligible receiver. That wouldn’t have frustrated me had they not made an awful pass interference call, a bad decision to NOT blow the whistle when Chris Johnson’s forward progress had clearly been stopped, and a questionable decision not to overturn a Jeremy Ross fumble. Ryan Mink of Ravens Media gives a closer look at all of these plays.
Equipment issues hinder Baltimore’s communication on final drive
If you remember during one part of the drive, the Ravens looked very confused with different personnel packages running on and off the field. Apparently, all of that resulted from the headsets being on the fritz. Marc Trestman was unable to communicate with Joe Flacco, according to Harbaugh. CSN Mid-Atlantic has the full story.
Ed Reed would entertain an offer for Miami Hurricanes coaching job
Chip Patterson of CBS Sports discusses Ed Reed’s recent statements regarding the coaching opportunities at the University of Miami. Reed would like for there to be input from the players on who coaches the team. He said that he would welcome the opportunity to take a coaching position at Miami, but admitted that he wouldn’t want the Head Coach job.
Mike Preston’s Ravens-Cardinals Report Card
Mike Preston of The Baltimore Sun gives his grades for the Ravens in last night’s loss. The offense across the board gets C’s except for the offensive line who got a C-. Preston saw improvement in the defensive backs, but thinks that Mosley needs improvement in coverage.
Grantland ranks Ravens as 16th best team in the NFL before last night
As Ravens fans, we are getting a little bit tired of close games, because they keep falling just short. It seems like there have been throws in every game that have either hit the ground or fallen into the hands of defenders in the end zone that have resulted in a loss for the Ravens. Bill Barnwell of Grantland appreciates that, and he considers the Ravens the 16th best team in the NFL because of it, despite what was a 1-5 record when he wrote this.
Chris Canty Has a Good Game
Among the standouts along the defensive line was Chris Canty, who just returned from a calf injury.
Chris Canty played 34 snaps and had six tackles, the most he's had in a game in his 3 yrs with the #Ravens #RavensTalk
