Blaine Gabbert is now a starting quarterback. DeAngelo Williams and Kendall Langford are two of the biggest waiver adds for the week. Vernon Davis has been traded from the 49ers to the Broncos. What does that mean for fantasy? Charcandrick West should merit RB2-flex consideration from here on out.
49ers benching Colin Kaepernick for Blaine Gabbert at quarterback
This one gives me personal satisfaction. Colin Kaepernick has been benched for Blaine Gabbert of all people. Gabbert has been awful throughout his entire career. As one of many failed quarterback picks by the teams consistently in the cellar of the NFL, Gabbert was a major disappointment for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I bet the 49ers wish that they still had Alex Smith around.
15 Fantasy Football Transactions for Week 9
As JJ Zachariason of numberFire explains, if you have top priority on the waiver wire or a whole bunch of free agent auction budget, use it on DeAngelo Williams. He is immediately the best option on the wire with the injury to Le’Veon Bell. Other transactions include selling Lamar Miller (which I did last week in a deal for Adrian Peterson) and buying another Steeler, Antonio Brown.
Vernon Davis leaving San Francisco via trade after 10 season
This was the second of the bombshells dropped by the 49ers organization yesterday. According to ESPN, the trade was an opportunity that John Elway just couldn’t pass up. With the lack of production from the Broncos’ offense this season, they are unlikely to be able to sustain another fantasy option. If you want to take a flier on him and have someone on your bench that you’re willing to drop, go ahead. But I wouldn’t expect too much from him. He hasn’t been a good weekly option for years.
Charcandrick West Can Be a Fantasy Football Difference-Maker Over the Second Half of the Season
Jamaal Charles owners were devastated when he went down with the second ACL injury of his career. Hopefully, if that was you, you picked up Charcandrick West. In an Andy Reid offense, he should see plenty of touches – and plenty of production. While owners shouldn’t expect Charles-type production, Mitch Block of numberFire expects him to be in the RB2-Flex range on a weekly basis.
Can Jeremy Langford Be a Workhorse Running Back for the Chicago Bears?
At this point in the season, waiver wire running backs are few and far between, which makes this week interesting with two available on most waiver wires. Brandon Gdula of numberFire ran the numbers on Jeremy Langford. He thinks that, while he has had a high Success Rate, the sample hasn’t been large enough, the numbers don’t indicate that he is likely to break out over the long term. He is a good option in week 9, however.
Mike McCoy said Chargers WR Keenan Allen has kidney injury. Not going to put timetable on it, "but he's going to miss some time."

Hopefully Keenan Allen will be okay, but for your fantasy team, you should definitely consider both Steve Johnson and Malcolm Floyd. As we saw on Sunday, that is a high-powered offense capable of sustaining two quality receivers, and both have been either just as or more efficient than Allen this season.
