Not that there really ever was a doubt that Smith Sr. was going to return he confirmed it today. While the news is great and should certainly boost a returning WR corps, the Ravens still need to prepare for life without him. Welcome back Steve!

Joe Polek

We all had hoped, but it is great to get this confirmation on the news that SSSr will return to the Ravens next year. To me, it is just another sign that the Ravens are poised for a bounce back season in 2016. With everyone returning from their injuries and a softer schedule, 2016 should see the Ravens we all have come to know. Smith is a huge part of that.

Nadeem Kureishy

Thrilled that Steve Smith sr will return for one more season. However, I hope that he is not the primary receiver. He is a great addition to the team and locker room.

Ryan Jones

This is great news for the Ravens and I’m sure John Harbaugh has a smile from ear to ear. Coming back from a torn Achilles at age 37 will be tough, but if anyone can pull it off it’s definitely Smith Sr. Even if he isn’t as productive in 2016, the intangibles he brings to the offense are incredibly valuable.

This buys the Ravens a little bit of time, but replenishing their wide receiver corps should remain one of the top priorities for Ozzie Newsome this offseason.

Brian McFarland

Not really a surprise, I don’t think any would ever imagine Smith leaving the game after being carried off the field (expect on shoulders after a SB win!).

You do have to wonder if age will catch up with him coming off of the injury, but if anyone can do it, SSSr. would be the one.

I would think the Ravens are very happy about this because, even if he’s only 80%, he’s still absolute bargain at a $3M salary ($4.1667M Cap number).

Tyler Lombardi

You never want a player of Steve Smith’s caliber (he should make it to the Hall of Fame, but with the logjam of receivers in consideration for the honor, I’m not sure whether that will happen soon) to leave on such a sour note. The news is exciting for that reason, but I am skeptical that a 37-year-old can defy the odds for yet another season and contribute the way that Steve Smith has thus far with the Ravens.

If anyone is up to the challenge, though, it would be Steve Smith. The fight between him and Father Time hasn’t been much of a competition so far, but an Achilles tear might level the playing field.

Adam Bonaccorsi

Welcome back Smitty!!

Sure Father Time is undefeated, but clearly he’s never met Steve Smith Sr. face-to-face (I’m sure he’d get the same advice that Santa received). I only see a minor drop off in production from Smith Sr. next year, and that’s mostly due to Kamar Aiken earning more targets, as well as the (fingers crossed) long overdue arrival of Breshad Perriman. And perhaps the limited targets will do just enough to keep Smitty fresh for what Ravens fans can only hope is a return to the playoffs with a deep run all the way to Houston.

Tony Lombardi

Warriors don’t leave the battlefield on their shield. They leave on their own terms. I would have been more shocked if Senior actually did retire. Ice Up 2016!

Ken McKusick

Some great news for the new year, particularly for a team with so many needs in the draft.

Drew Forrester

I’m not unhappy with #89’s return. I love his spirit and passion for the sport.

But he’s a 36-year old guy coming back from the worst injury an athlete can endure. This wasn’t a
broken arm or broken ankle. He tore his achilles. It’s typically a career-death-knell for someone at his
age…coupled with the wear and tear a lengthy career in the NFL produces.

I’m not expecting much.
