Flacco: Current Cap Number Not Realistic

Ravens QB Joe Flacco raises the Lombardi trophy after winning the Super Bowl, cash is falling down on him from the sky instead of confetti.

Joe Flacco says his “huge” Cap number isn’t “really realistic.” The NFL made yet another screw-up with the game balls during a Patriots playoff game. St. Louis PSL holders are filing a lawsuit. The Bills promote the first full-time female coach. Will Kamar Aiken be back in 2016?

Joe Flacco Says He’s Open to Contract Restructure

Joe Flacco went on WBAL Radio this morning and said that he knows that his “huge” cap number isn’t exactly the most team-friendly amount, and he wants to win, so he wants to get something done. These comments somewhat contradict his agent’s comments earlier this offseason. He said Flacco’s contract “is what it is” and that it was the going rate for “these types of quarterbacks.” Flacco’s statements signal that Linta’s statement was just posturing for negotiations, like we all thought.

If you’re looking for an example of what Flacco’s contract might look like, we’ve got you covered.

Chiefs vs Patriots Kicking Footballs Taken to Gillette Stadium by State Troopers

What if I told that, about a year removed from a scandal involving deflated balls and faulty gauges, the NFL made yet another error involving game balls? What if I told you that the police had to bring the balls to the stadium for the NFL? You would probably tell me I’m crazy and there’s no way the NFL would let the game balls out of their sight ever again, but Massachusetts state police have confirmed that this indeed happened. Scott Polacek of Bleacher Report has the full story.

St. Louis personal seat license holders sue Los Angeles Rams

It looks like the Rams organization may have signed contracts that they can’t keep. According to Kristen Taketa of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis Rams PSL holders are suing the NFL, claiming that their licenses were valid through 2025, regardless of where the team plays. But the agreement also states that the “Rams reserve the right to terminate the agreement and refund ‘part or all’ of a PSL holder’s deposit.” This will be an interesting legal battle to watch.

Kathryn Smith becomes first full-time NFL coach

Kathryn Smith becomes the first woman with a full-time position in the NFL, via promotion within the Buffalo Bills organization. Head Coach Rex Ryan seems excited about it. “Kathryn Smith has done an outstanding job in the seven years that she has worked with our staff,” Rex said. “She certainly deserves this promotion based on her knowledge and strong commitment, just to name a couple of her outstanding qualities, and I just know she’s going to do a great job serving in the role of Quality Control-Special Teams.”

It will be interesting to see how her players respond. If the response to the first female official is any indication, it won’t be any different than usual.

Q&A: Will Aiken be with Ravens in 2016?

Clifton Brown of CSN Mid-Atlantic asks and answers questions from his readers. The first of which is whether Kamar Aiken will be back next season. Cliff says yes, “He’s a restricted free agent, but the Ravens want to keep Aiken and he wants to stay. Coming off a career-best season (75 catches, 944 yards season, five touchdowns), Aiken is just 26 years old, and the Ravens need weapons at wide receiver for quarterback Joe Flacco.”

I’m with Cliff; I think it’s nearly certain that he’ll be back.
