Here in Maryland, we love our state much more than most states. We pride ourselves in being unique in our obsession of crabs, Old Bay, and Berger Cookies. Some of us even drink a light beer different than the rest of the country. It tastes exactly the same, but we like to be unique. It’s a bit more expensive than your bargain brand beers, but we’re cool with it as long as it shows that we’re proud to be Marylanders.
And then there’s our state flag. Of all the flags in the United States, it stands out the most. It’s the best flag. I mean look at it.
Just majestic.
So when Ravens fans saw that the Maryland-themed jerseys might be featured on Color Rush Thursday this year, I was surprised by the reaction.

The color rush jerseys weren’t well-received last year. Then again, nothing is ever well-received with football fans when you change anything at all. The way fans reacted to them, you would have thought that they forced the players to run out in pink tutus or something.
Count me among the group that actually liked the color rush jerseys (except for the ridiculous oversight of the colorblindness problem).
And you can count me among those begging the Ravens and the NFL to make this happen Week 10. I know fans around the league will call them ugly. Some in the state even will. I don’t care. I might even end my drought of buying jerseys if they make this happen.
My biggest question: How closely would the Ravens’ Maryland-themed jerseys resemble the jerseys the Terps have worn in the past?
I loved these jerseys, but I would have prefered if they alternated the red-white and gold-black parts like the flag. Hopefully, the Ravens and the NFL can make those types of adjustments without the colors being overpowering.
Hopefully, we’ll see if they can pull it off Week 10 this year.
Could it look like this?
