Leading Aerial Camera Systems Company provides signature in-game video for in-venue fans

BALTIMORE (August 22, 2017) – The world’s leading aerial camera systems company SkyCam is expanding its efforts to bring fans around the world – and in venues – a more compelling experience when watching the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens.

In an historic launch of new in-venue, video technology, the Ravens have installed new 4K ultra-high definition video boards on each end of M&T Bank Stadium’s lower seating bowl. The new video boards measure approximately 200-feet wide, 36-feet high and double the width of the stadium’s former end zone screens. These additions are upgrades the Ravens have made for the 2017 season, all aimed at adding to the in-venue gameday experience.

Key to that experience, the Ravens have partnered with SkyCam to provide their Emmy- Award winning cable suspended camera systems to fans as they watch the new video boards.

“This is a great addition to M&T Bank Stadium and the Ravens organization,” SkyCam Chief Technical Officer Stephen Wharton said. “Being the first in anything is a bold move, and we applaud the Ravens for their technological, trailblazing spirit.”

“Adding SkyCam – the premier camera angle in professional football – is another example of our commitment to creating an outstanding gameday experience for Ravens fans,” Baltimore Ravens Vice President of Broadcasting and Gameday Productions Jay O’Brien stated.

“We constantly strive to produce the NFL’s best and most captivating video content. With SkyCam capabilities, we believe our in-game production rises to an even higher level.”

“SkyCam WildCat systems usually follow a network package – Sunday or Monday Night Football – temporarily installed week-to-week just for those network games,” Wharton added. “With the Ravens, we’ve been able to develop and leverage technology that allows us to keep our systems in place and lower operating costs. This proprietary technology makes it affordable to teams whose fans are demanding an in-venue experience that’s better than watching at home.”

“We’re excited for the continued growth for our business and team ownership, helping to grow our path to covering every NFL game,” SkyCam Chief Executive Officer Endre Buxton said. “This permanent system with the Ravens helps establish a model for expansion to other venues and teams.”

As part of the agreement, SkyCam looks to leverage its new SkyCommand technology, which allows the operator to control the camera from an off-site studio. SkyCam first debuted the SkyCommand Technology – in partnership with The Switch – at the 2017 National Association of Broadcasters exposition in April.

ABOUT SKYCAM: As the global leader in aerial camera systems, SkyCam paved the way for safe and reliable operation with proprietary advanced software including line avoidance, obstacle avoidance and remote monitoring. In addition, the system has received engineering approval from the NFL, NCAA, UL, LADBS, and an independent lab certifying all safety ratings and factors. No safer system exists in the world.

Each system deployed undergoes a daily pre-deployment inspection, and is digitally logged on SkyCam’s proprietary monitoring and logistics software system – FlightDeck. SkyCam has an experienced engineering, operations, and management team, and is routinely requested to operate at marquee events around the world.

ABOUT THE BALTIMORE RAVENS: Entering their 22nd year of existence, the two-time Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens have earned a playoff berth in six of the past nine seasons. Since head coach John Harbaugh’s arrival in 2008, Baltimore has posted the NFL’s fourth-most total victories (95), won the league’s second-most playoff games (10), advanced to an impressive three AFC Championship contests, and in 2012, captured the World Championship in Super Bowl XLVII. The Ravens, who also won Super Bowl XXXV during the 2000 campaign, have made the playoffs in seven of the past 11 seasons – producing three AFC North Division titles during this time (2006, 2011 and 2012).
