Took a step back last week as my Week 8 lineup netted a mere 159.00 points. The team was led by James Conner’s 41.20 steam rolling of the Browns, Jared Goff’s solid 26.50 points and Davante Adams’ 21.30 points. Phillip Lindsay’s 20.20 could have been closer to 30 but the Broncos just had to get Devontae Booker involved. Byron Leftwich didn’t rock the kangol, and while he did do more to get David Johnson in space it wasn’t near Bruce Arians levels – #soon. Robert Woods was solid but Jaire Alexander decided he was Deion Sanders and Martavis Bryant was, well let’s not talk about that.
On to Week 9…
QB Jared Goff @ New Orleans
Going back to the Goff well this week in a great matchup in New Orleans. Hat tip the Packers defense last week but the Rams started peculiarly shaky on offense. Goff still rebounded nicely for 295 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. I don’t expect that lull in this one. The Saints top ranked run defense and issues at corner create an ideal environment for Goff to thrive. Only the Bucs and Falcons give up more fantasy points to QB’s than the Saints.
DraftKings salary: 6,000
RB Ezekiel Elliott vs. Tennessee
Home favorite Zeke is my favorite Zeke. The Titans give up 112 yards per game on the ground and have been an absolute mess on offense this season. I expect the Cowboys and their underrated defense to control this one throughout, leading to multiple scoring chances and clock killing opportunities for Elliott.
DraftKings salary: 7,600
RB Alvin Kamara vs. Los Angeles (Rams)
Kamara’s price is starting to dip and I’m taking full advantage in what should be a great matchup of high-powered offenses. The Rams allow almost 8 targets per game to the running back position (7.75) which keeps his floor intact with the chance that his red zone usage sky rockets his ceiling.
DraftKings salary: 7,300
WR Stefon Diggs vs. Detroit
Another stud at a below market price. Diggs’ questionable injury tag, his likely matchup with Darius Slay and Adam Thielen’s historic start will scare some off but not I. Diggs has had double digit targets in all but one game this season and he’s averaged 88 yards per game in his career versus Detroit.
DraftKings salary: 6,800
WR Cooper Kupp @ New Orleans
Who doesn’t like fun? Cooper Kupp returns to the lineup this week and gets a gift in the form PJ Williams in the slot. Because of his red zone usage, Kupp is usually the best bet for a TD among the Rams really good trio of receivers. Take advantage of the slight discount this week and play Cooper Kupp.
DraftKings salary: 6,000
WR Kenny Golladay @Minnesota
Is it possible a player can be freed again after already being freed? The trade of Golden Tate should enhance Golladay’s floor while his ceiling is one of the prettiest at the position. The Vikings have historically shadowed Marvin Jones which will leave Golladay to tango with the much more ideal matchup of Trae Waynes. Golladay has the chance to way outkick his cost in a game the Lions will need to throw the ball in to have success.
DraftKings salary: 5,500
TE Vance McDonald @ Baltimore
The Ravens look likely to welcome back talented sophomore corner Marlon Humphrey to the lineup. They’ve also seen Tavon Young really settle in and play good football in the slot over the past few weeks. Obviously, none of this means that Antonio Brown couldn’t still go off but he should at least not be totally green lighted versus one of the league’s top pass defenses. Talented slot man Juju Smith Schuster hasn’t had a great deal of success versus the Ravens in his young career. The one weakness of the Ravens pass defense has been down in between the linebackers and safeties…something the Steelers I’m sure have zeroed in on.
DraftKings salary: 3,700
Flex Jordan Howard @Buffalo
I’ve got to find a way to exploit the Bills weekly and since the defense costs too much I’m going with the next best thing. Much like the Zeke play, I expect the Bears to seize control of this game and make it a clocking killing Howard > Cohen game. Should end up a cheap source of a couple TD’s.
DraftKings salary: 4,700
Defense Broncos vs. Houston
I’m aware Deshaun Watson threw for 5 TD’s last week but follow me here. The Broncos have played QB’s well all year. They given up the 11th least amount of points to the position on the season. In Denver this season, QB’s are only completed 59 percent of their passes and are gaining 5.8 net adjusted yards per pass attempt. Watson has had a penchant to hold the ball, something the Broncos can capitalize on as they are tied for 2nd in the league with 24 sacks. Losing field stretcher Will Fuller won’t be a small task to overcome either. I think this will be a big let down spot for Watson this week.
