Most have us have probably seen on social media the stories of fantasy triumph and demoralizing defeat solely due to the Ravens/Colts game. Specifically, Lamar Jackson, Hollywood Brown and Mark Andrews. I experienced it myself. I was up by just over 50 points with only Andrews and Hollywood left to play in my opponent’s lineup. I expected a big game, but nothing like the performance they put up. I thought my win was chalked up, since my team had put up about 155 points.

Now, I write this with a beer next to me while I try to erase the memory of one of, if not, the most surprising losses I have ever taken. But hey, I will take a Ravens win, especially a game as exciting as that one 10 times out of 10 over a fantasy win!

This week, the Ravens have a thrilling matchup against the Chargers (which I will be attending!) that is sure to have football fans across the nation glued to their TVs. We are coming off of a solid week, hitting our Ravens game start and sits, as well as hitting on most of our fire/ice picks. The streamers could have performed better, but that’s going to be a different story this week!

Let’s talk about which players will make or break not only the real life game, but our fantasy games as well.

Ravens-Chargers Fantasy Outlook

Start Em’

Mark Andrews

Mandrews has seen his targets increase every game since Week 2, with his target total being 13 in last week’s game. We all know what those 13 targets led to! In a game that should be high scoring with the Ravens projected to score almost 28 points, Mandrews is going to be an essential piece of the puzzle to keep up with the Chargers high octane offense.

While the Chargers rank 5th best in the league defending the pass, they have quietly let up the 4th most points to fantasy tight ends. Andrews’ heavy usage should lead to a nice week in real football as well as fantasy.

Austin Ekeler

Ekeler has received no fewer than five targets since Week 2 and that should continue this week against the Ravens, who have let up the 5th most points to fantasy RB’s. We all saw Jonothan Taylor break off a game-breaking reception the first drive of last week’s game. Ekeler is a much more talented pass catcher and is no doubt, more electric with the ball in his hands. Ekeler will be a go-to target for Justin Herbert while the Chargers try to keep up with Lamar Jackson and this fire hot offense.

Sit Em’

Sammy Watkins

Watkins had yet another uninspiring performance against the Colts, catching two of three targets for only 35 yards. What is even more concerning is that even with the pass-heavy comeback drives, Watkins was not a factor. I don’t expect Sammy to have a bounce back performance against the Chargers stingy pass defense that ranks 2nd in points allowed to fantasy WR’s and 5th best overall pass defense.

Jared Cook

If you have any of the main pieces in the Chargers offense, they are an auto start in your lineup. While this matchup for Cook is a good one against the Ravens (2nd most points allowed to fantasy TEs) Cook is the only player on the Chargers I would consider benching if you have better options. If you need a streamer due to an injury or bye week, Cook isn’t the worst option in the world. I would sit him unless he is your best/only option this week.

Streamin’ around the league

Taylor Heinicke

After making our ice squad last week, and rightfully so (11.9 fantasy points), Heinicke makes a comeback this week against an abysmal Chiefs defense that has been the major contributing factor in the Chiefs’ astonishing 2-3 start to the season. The Chiefs defense ranks dead last in pass defense as well as points allowed to fantasy QBs. Washington will be playing keep-up with the Chiefs resulting in plenty of pass attempts. Add in the matchup plus Heinicke’s rushing ability, this is a smash streaming play.

Khalil Herbert

A name that most fans don’t know and should still be available on waivers, Herbert is going to be the main contributor in Chicago’s run game after it was announced that Damien Williams was placed in the Covid list. Herbert should have plenty of opportunity against the Packers 26th ranked rush defense, making him a low-end flex option this week.

Cole Beasley

Beasley… buddy… you get ONE more chance. You’ve burned me both times I put my ass on the line by giving you streamer status. Once again, Beasley is in a dream matchup against the Titans who have let up the most fantasy points to WRs in the league. The Bills have an insane 30-point projection and I don’t see how Beasley is not a part of that. But hey, since I said he will do good, I’m sure he will perform horrendously.

Ricky Seals-Jones:

Ricky (I refuse to repeatedly type this dudes last name) has been the starting TE since Logan Thomas got injured and it seems like the connection between Ricky and Heinicke is growing, as Ricky doubled his target totals between weeks 4 and 5. I expect Ricky to take advantage of this matchup against KC who, as previously stated, are a horrific defense and give up the 5th most fantasy points to opposing TEs.
