Merry Christmas Eve, Flock Nation! I hope everyone is all done their Christmas shopping, unlike Marlon Humphrey!
Y’all last minute shoppers got me mad…even tho I’m last minute shopping too

This year, I asked Santa for some negative COVID tests for the Ravens and a speedy recovery for Lamar Jackson. We’ll likely find out on Christmas if several players, including Calais Campbell and Patrick Ricard, will have a red light or green light for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ravens defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale told an assistant yesterday: "You go from the beginning of the season with our roster to right now, and I don't know if we're playing football or the Squid Game."

Yep, that’s another pop culture reference from Wink Martindale, who currently has just 13(!) active defensive players on Baltimore’s 53-man roster. Another game of practice squad defenders against Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase doesn’t seem like the best idea, but they almost just beat Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams in the same situation.

Wink isn’t planning to cover Chase the same way as Adams, especially if Jimmy Smith and Chris Westry can get off the COVID list in time to play. I would actually personally advocate for lining up Westry on Chase. The Ravens don’t have a talented enough corner to lock down Chase, but Westry’s speed, size and tackling ability should help him minimize the damage that Chase can do.

It’s really disappointing to have COVID impact the Ravens so badly at such a crucial time. They’ve dealt with injuries all year, and they’re continuing to pile up now. Throwing COVID in the mix means the Ravens really can’t put their best foot forward in their most important game of the year, a rematch against the only team that beat them badly this season.
Lacie DeCosta also announced her jersey pick of the week, going with Hollywood Brown who got snubbed for the Pro Bowl this year.

I know there are a lot of good wide receivers in the AFC, but Brown has been so consistently good all season that I can’t help but feel like he was overlooked.
I’ve also got a new prospect of the week for you: Alabama cornerback Jalyn Armour-Davis. The Ravens can clearly never have enough cornerbacks, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they drafted another in 2022. We know how much the Ravens love players from Alabama, so Armour-Davis (who already has a Baltimore-ready name) could fit the bill.
Jalyn Armour-Davis season‼️ I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being a name by the end of the season. He has all of the tools to succeed.

He’s an extremely physical corner, both at the catch point and as a tackler, which is something the Ravens secondary could probably use.
That’s all for this week, so here’s hoping Santa pops down the chimney at Owings Mills with some negative COVID tests for our favorite Ravens!
