The Ravens fell just short again, losing 16-13 to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 18. RSR staff react to the loss here.

Why not have one more total kick in the crotch to end the 2021 season? Greg Roman seemed to be daring the Ravens front office to fire him today, insisting on ridiculous decisions to pass the ball even when his team had put up over 200 yards rushing through the first three quarters. Tyler Huntley was clearly bothered by the wet and rainy conditions, but hey, let’s keep throwing!

Marquise Brown had several more crucial drops, including one that would have been a touchdown and another that would have set the Ravens up near Justin Tucker’s range at the end of regulation.

The defense did their job, but again proved that they just. Can’t. Finish. Still, I have a hard time getting to upset at them. The offense – Roman, and Huntley – lost this game.

The Dolphins are currently smacking the Pats around, so it’s not like the Ravens lost a playoff spot, but they did usher in the Steelers, which is unforgivable enough in itself.

Pathetic. Someone needs to be fired. I nominate Greg Roman.

The Jags’ win is what made this one sting. I didn’t have high expectations of the Ravens getting in the playoffs going into this game. This should be an interesting off-season and likely a decent amount of roster turnover. This season has been cursed with injuries and covid. In a way it’s nice to put the season behind us. Here’s to hoping for a much healthier and better season in 2022.

Yeah, that about figures for the way this season would end. Screw the Colts for leaving the door open to give us hope.

Here’s to a last-place schedule next season and a potential top-15 pick.

This just felt right for the 2021 season. A flawed and fresh-out-of-depth Ravens squad fell just short in a game when they had multiple opportunities to pull it out. Light a candle. Bury this season. It’s time to start thinking draft.

One thing I want to know and would like to see her figured out in the offseason is why does this team, who always fights so hard, consistently come up small late in games? This isn’t just a 2021 thing and an injury thing. This has been something that has plagued this team a lot over the years.

It just seems like they can’t make those few plays needed to win these types of games. Making that one last play has hurt them six weeks in a row.

As for today, you continue to see why the Huntley over Lamar question is a dumb one. Whether or not you believe Lamar should be paid 40+M a year is a different question but whatever you decide there, the decision should have zero to do with Tyler Huntley. Good back up, glad to have him but if some team thinks he’s a starter and they want to give up a 3rd rounder or more for him, you do it without thinking.

We enter one of the most important offseasons in the history of this franchise. It will be interesting to see how they handle it. Hopefully we hear quickly that Roman is gone and that the Ravens are changing their offensive identity.

The thing you come away with this year is that we got to a see a lot of depth and the playing time those guys got will bode well long term.
