As much as I want to write about the Ravens, there’s bigger news to breakdown today, and that involves former Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill. After contract extension talks slowed on Wednesday, Hill was told he could seek a trade partner – it didn’t take long.

Hill is now a Miami Dolphin, giving QB Tua Tagovailoa a serious weapon opposite Jaylen Waddle. Ravens fans might want to get excited about not facing Hill as a member of the Chiefs, but the Dolphins do visit M&T Bank Stadium at some point in 2022.

As a ripple effect, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell said he wouldn’t be surprised if Kansas City reached out to Baltimore for the services of WR Marquise Brown. Ravens QB Lamar Jackson quickly shot that down, and he didn’t hold back:

I understand Jackson not wanting a top target departing, but if a trade was proposed, GM Eric DeCosta should heavily consider it. Yes, Brown is productive, but he’s reaching the end of his rookie deal and hasn’t been consistent in Baltimore. Pair that with a deep WR draft class and the Ravens have a potential bargain on their hands.

If the Chiefs are willing to part with one of their 2022 1st Round picks and more draft capital, the Ravens should absolutely consider pulling the trigger.

With that in mind, I do believe Hollywood would explode with KC. His skillset fits into their offense perfectly, and as sad as it is to say, he probably hasn’t been utilized well in Baltimore. Many might jump at the opportunity to blame that on his quarterback, but these numbers say otherwise:

Of course, many of these TDs are due to Lamar’s elusiveness and scrambling ability, but that’s beside the point. No matter who is in the receiver room in Baltimore, they’ll be explosive when they have Jackson at the helm.

Defensively, the Ravens are working to recover from the loss (if you can call it that) of EDGE Za’Darius Smith. The former Raven & Packer officially joined the Minnesota Vikings on Wednesday, and DeCosta worked quickly to bring in new faces for visits.

I like the opportunities presented by Green and/or Key, both young Defensive Ends. Either option offers great athleticism at the position, room to grow, and signs of improvement after their past season.

There’s no doubt the Ravens need to get younger on the defensive front and must find more pressure from the interior. Both of these players would fit the bill as explosive pass rushers along the line of scrimmage.

It’s been a few weeks since I did a mock, so I’m due for one. The visits of two defensive linemen certainly gives me room for it, too. Here’s a Mock Draft assuming the Ravens ink one of either Key and Green to man a Defensive End position in 2022:

Ravens mock draft

In Devonte Wyatt, Boye Mafe, and Troy Andersen, Baltimore lands three potential starters at a position of need. Wyatt may be a slight reach at 14, but I do think his athleticism in the interior would be tremendously valuable, especially paired with Michael Pierce’s run stuffing ability.

With IOL Ed Ingram, the Ravens are able to find a plug-and-play rookie at Guard, while also adding a potential tackle to replace Morgan Moses with the right development. Tyrese Robinson adds a developmental interior lineman, as well.

On offense, adding Wydermyer brings more matchup nightmares to the middle of the field to pair with TE Mark Andrews, while WR Alec Pierce could be a reliable slot target for Jackson. Finally, Tyler Allgeier is a sleeper late round pick at RB that could fill the Gus Edwards role if Baltimore eventually elects to move on from the Bus.

If there’s any area in which this Mock Draft fails, it’s the secondary. Jobe and Bryant are fine options at corner, but neither is likely to step into a starting role in Week 1. If the board fell this way, Baltimore would have to be extremely comfortable rolling with Humphrey and Peters despite recent injuries.

We’ll have to see how the rest of the offseason plays out.
