With the 14th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Ravens selected Notre Dame safety Kyle Hamilton.
RSR staff react to the pick here.
I did not see Hamilton as a realistic option, but the Ravens added to a perceived strength (if the corners come back healthy) in their defensive backfield. Hamilton has the look of a potential star, and his intelligence, anticipation and athleticism give him a high floor. This should be an eraser for opposing tight ends, and could be the correction of a wrong when the team previously passed on Derwin James.
Amazing night so far. There were two players who were pipe dreams for me: Thibodeaux and Kyle Hamilton, and to have Hamilton fall to them is insane. I know it’s not the biggest need but it’s the best pick. You have to take that talent.
I’m overjoyed. I ranked Hamilton as my favorite player in this draft back in March, and though I’d cooled on him since, I’m still elated to see the Ravens land the best safety in the draft. Hamilton and Marcus Williams are an elite combination.
Not a need but how can you be mad when they land what many think is the best player in the draft? Typical Ravens getting a player that falls on the board that was too good to pass up.
So… that was a lot. I have a super bitter taste in my mouth from the Eagles swooping in to grab Davis out from underneath our noses, but Hamilton was the #2 ranked player on my big board. He’s an incredible opportunist and can play all over the secondary, and I just hope we can deploy him to the best of his ability.
