In the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Ravens drafted Travis Jones, DT from the University of Connecticut 76th overall.
RSR staff react to the pick here…
This is a player I would have been happy with in the second round. They have really addressed the defense with a lot of upside and Jones is a player who can create up-the-middle pressure, which is tough to find. He had a big Senior Bowl week.
Getting Travis Jones here is just ridiculous value. The defensive line is shaping up to be physical and strong, and the Ravens are well-positioned to fill some of their holes at receiver, corner, OT and LB tomorrow still. Are the Ravens positioning themselves best to compete next year for a championship? I’m not sure. But they are definitely compiling good talent at great value. Let’s see what comes tomorrow.
Mel Kiper on ESPN just after the pick: “If he would’ve gone to Ohio State, Michigan…he would’ve been a top 10, top 15, top 20 pick.”
Good enough for me. Sounds like more crazy value.
I’m floored that the Ravens landed Travis Jones at #76. What an absolute steal. He’s not Jordan Davis, but he’s a force of nature up front, and was my third ranked DT on my overall board behind Davis and Devonte Wyatt.
