We’re another week into the offseason, folks, and we still have plenty of fun to discuss on this Wednesday edition of Out to Lunch! With the Baltimore Ravens continuing to sign rookies to their first NFL contracts and lots of opinions being thrown around about the team and its new players, the Ravens are generating some buzz in the Twitter-sphere. The next step is for the media to give the team its proper dues, but we’ll take it one step at a time.

Until then, let’s jump in and see what going on with Ravens Flock today!

Pen to paper for Ravens first round draft choice, Kyle Hamilton, who signed a four-year $16.3 million fully guaranteed contact:

Hamilton has massive hype entering the 2022 offseason for Baltimore after having ridiculous draft hype headed into this past April. With all the talent and upside in the world, it’s always nice to see the Ravens taking care of business and not letting this contract situation linger.

Just because we can, here are some highlights from Hamilton just to make your Wednesday even better:

The fullback position may be a dying breed, but that hasn’t stopped the Baltimore Ravens from finding routinely dominant forces at the position. The Ravens currently have perhaps the best in the league at the moment in the form of Pat Ricard, and this stat is something pretty cool to take note of:

The man dubbed “Project Pat” has gone from undrafted free agent to versatile chess piece over the course of his five-year NFL career, with many years ahead of him after signing a three-year extension back in March. Ricard has proven to be a vital piece to this Baltimore Ravens offense and his value won’t be taking a dip any time soon. I would anticipate those touchdown numbers to keep going up for the 28-year-old monster.

How excited was Odafe Oweh when he found out Baltimore was selecting David Ojabo in the 2022 NFL Draft? Listen for yourself:

We heard second-hand about the praise and emotion from Oweh back in April, but to actually hear him put it to words is awesome. Oweh has tons of praise for Ojabo’s athleticism and that means a lot coming from another freakishly athletic marvel like himself. When Ojabo gets healthy, the combination of him and Oweh is terrifying for opposing quarterbacks. And let’s not forget about Tyus Bowser, as well. For the first time in a while, the Ravens edge rushing room is as deep as ever.

Why aren’t we talking about the Baltimore Ravens more? Carmen Vitali of The Draft Network penned his opinions on our beloved football team here:

Carmen has some glowing opinions on Baltimore’s 2022 draft haul (“who doesn’t?” would be a better question) and points out the offseason additions of guys like Marcus Williams, as well. The media doesn’t seem to be giving the Ravens the respect they’ve earned over the last few years thanks to the strength of the AFC and the arms race that we’ve seen throughout the conference. The renaissance of the Cincinnati Bengals and the addition of Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns has everyone clamoring about the Ohio teams in the AFC North, but they could all be in for a rude awakening with a fully healthy Baltimore Ravens team with a lot of pent-up frustration from a depressing 2021 season.

Ravens Flock is fully aware of how good this 2022 edition of the team will be, but why the rest of the media isn’t realizing the same thing is certainly mind boggling. Nonetheless, props to Carmen for having the sense to realize how good of a squad this Ravens team is! You’ve earned points amongst the Flock!

In case you are (somehow) unaware of how good Lamar Jackson is, check this cool little stat out:

Sure, this won’t quell the “Lamar can’t win as a passer” argument, which is still a ridiculously incorrect claim, but this is a neat stat either way!

… But for those criticizing his arm talent:

This is absolutely meme-worthy because of one major NFL draft bust’s ability to do the same thing (Jamarcus Russell), and another that Ravens fans will remember well (Kyle Boller), but it doesn’t suddenly wipe away this ridiculous clip. Go off, Lamar!

One quick update on Jackson before we close out:

Yup, you read that right – 220lbs.

Before you go on to criticize Jackson for the way he is handling the contract situation, remember that he is continuing to work on himself to become the best possible player for his brand new impending mega-deal. Jackson bulking up is proving that he is committed to a long-term future at the position and making sure that he isn’t going to be injured because he wasn’t strong enough. The man is on a mission in 2022, and I have a sneaking suspicion that by the end of the year he is going to be setting a record for money at the quarterback spot.

Have a great rest of your week, Ravens Flock, and I’ll see you next Wednesday!
