A few of Russell Street Report’s more recent pieces have touched on this, but I’ll reiterate: there’s no easy way to segue from what Ravens fans experienced last week. June 22nd, 2022, will likely go down as one of the darkest days in franchise history for Ravens fans, and I think we’re all still feeling it to some extent.
As the days have passed and the news cycle has continued to be heavy, in the world of football and elsewhere, I keep having this recurring thought of, “We need a break.” I don’t want to downplay or dismiss the reverence and reflection that we’ve experienced, because those are important parts of how we heal. At the same time, like some of you, football can be a place that I seek refuge. My football Sundays are a rest stop for me during the season, and they’re a nice place to take a break.
Unfortunately, we’re not in the middle of the season yet, but you know what? Let’s take a football break anyway. If you’re like me, you need it. Heck, you deserve it. Here are some things around the Ravens that put smile on my face, and I hope they do the same for you, too.
"Do we charge you rent for the studio?"@marlon_humphrey finally gets a chance to ask Steve Bisciotti to borrow the jet 😂

Talk about creative ways to find cap space. In the latest episode of Studio 44, Marlon Humphrey sat down with Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti, who couldn’t resist the opportunity to rib Marlon a little bit by calling back to a previous episode featuring EDC. You can catch full episode on the Ravens’ YouTube page.
Marlon, if you’re reading this, maybe you could offer a joyride in the Tesla as a bargaining chip.
I been driving my Tesla too much. I just filled up and it costed 141😅

I don’t even want to imagine what the price on the pump looks like to fill up the jet. The full episode of Studio 44 with Steve Bisciotti is now up on the Ravens’ YouTube page.
Speaking of factors that complicate matters through the air, Jimmy Smith got some kudos from Julian Edelman for being a surprisingly difficult matchup on the “I AM ATHLETE” podcast. (Mild language warning on this clip).
Who was the player that Pats WR Julian Edelman hated playing against?

While Smith’s future in Baltimore’s reinvented secondary is uncertain, appearances would suggest that there will be plenty of tough matchups for receivers this coming season, and Pro Football Focus’ Mike Renner seems to concur.

Not a bad turnaround compared to where they were at the end of the season last year.
Times might be tough right now, but it’s nice to have something to look forward to. Every day brings us a little bit closer to those Fall Sundays (and the occasional Monday and Thursday night) where the biggest thing occupying our minds is Ravens football.
Take it one day at a time, because every day gets us a little closer to a new season filled with new opportunities…

I can’t wait to see you all back at The Castle and rocking the house at The Bank. Let’s hope that when Week 1 rolls around, the new season looks just like old times.
