Hump Day Out to Lunch

Another week closer to football! Good morning/afternoon/evening, Ravens Flock!

What’s going on in the Twitter-sphere this week with the Baltimore Ravens? It’s a little bit quieter than usual, but we do have some interesting conversations going on regardless. Let’s dive right into it all on this week’s Wednesday edition of Out to Lunch!

The name of the game is “Sleep on Tylan Wallace:”

Wallace, a fourth-round pick just a year ago, is currently in line for a nice role in the Ravens passing offense in 2022. Baltimore thus far has yet to add any significant names to the wide receivers’ rooms and perhaps no one will benefit more from this than Wallace. Many forget that Wallace was a two-time All-American selection, including First-Team in 2018, and a three-time All-Big 12 receiver (two first in 2018, 2020). Wallace showed some exceptional ability as a receiver during his time at Oklahoma State and we are all hoping that a larger role for the 23-year-old wide out could be just what he needs to kickstart his NFL career and remind everyone of how good he was in college.

Ravens Flock is certainly hoping that someone steps up for this WR corps (not named Rashod Bateman), and Wallace could just be the man for the job.

An update on the Lamar Jackson contract situation:

I am not too sure if any of this is overly surprising to hear, but nonetheless, it is an update per Ian Rapoport on The Pat McAfee Show. It is awesome to know that the Baltimore Ravens view him as the franchise quarterback that everyone and their mother know he is. With Kyler Murray signing his deal recently, there is likely extra onus on Baltimore to get this deal down ASAP.

Speaking of the Murray extension, what exactly does this do to the Lamar Jackson extension talks?

Aaron Wilson from pro Football Network says it best in that “there’s no sense of urgency on Jackson’s part to sign now because the money will only keep going up as long as he remains healthy and productive.”

Who can blame Lamar? With the going price for quarterbacks going up every year and Jackson proving his value to the Baltimore Ravens year after year, it is truly the best move from a business side of things for Lamar to continue postponing a long-term deal. Should he win another league MVP or even a Super Bowl, that would up his ante quite a bit.

Don’t expect Jackson to reach a long-term deal anytime soon.

Death, taxes, and the Baltimore Ravens winning preseason games.

Truly, Baltimore has built itself a preseason dynasty.

In all seriousness, the novelty of winning that many preseason games in a row is pretty cool and definitely a humble brag with next to no weight. Don’t let anyone tell you it’s not impressive, however, as this shows off great coaching, depth, and roster building.

One last note before we go – if you like betting, then you’ll be happy to see your favorite purple and black colored NFL team has the best odds to win the AFC North this year:

We certainly love to be slept on and it feels like time and time again that has been the case more often than not for the Baltimore Ravens, but when we do get the respect from the media and betting markets it absolutely feels well deserved. I don’t need to go on and on about how good this Baltimore Ravens team is because by now we all know that. But the people at BetOnline are certainly high on the Ravens winning the AFC North this year and we won’t ever complain about that.

That’s all for this time, Ravens Flock. I’ll see you next week!
