Tyler Huntley has caught the attention of NFL experts and possibly other teams with his preseason performance.

With Lamar Jackson watching from the sidelines and unlikely to play in any of the exhibition games, Huntley has shown he can effectively run the offense.

Furthermore, he plays with a high measure of confidence, which is key for an NFL quarterback.

As a result, Huntley could be targeted by other teams, such as the Seattle Seahawks, that might be willing to pull the trigger on a potential trade.

However, the Ravens will likely hold onto Huntley in case there are injuries at quarterback.

Huntly is just embracing the moment.

“I think the experience definitely plays a part in it,” Huntley said. “Just going on my third year, I’ve seen a couple of different defenses, and I’ve got a great feel for the offense right now, and I’m just taking what the defense gives me, and it’s continuing to work time after time. So, I’ll just continue to build on that.”

In the first preseason game, against Tennessee, Huntley was 16 for 18 for 109 yards with a touchdown for a 110.4 QB rating. He is more accurate with his throws downfield and did a nice job scrambling from the pocket.

Huntley had another solid performance in the second game against the Cardinals, completing 13 of 14 passes for 129 yards (128.9 rating) and a touchdown pass to rookie Isaiah Likely.

Huntley has also been solid throughout training camp despite dealing with tendonitis. He has a solid rapport with the players, who are also confident that he could land a starting role in the NFL.

“I’ll just say I just want to continue to show that I can play great quarterback, I guess,” Huntley said. “That’s the only answer I’ve got for that question.”

Last year, Huntley started when Jackson was inactive with an illness and ankle injury. Huntly finished 1-3 as the starter, completing 122 of 188 pass attempts for 1,081 yards and three touchdowns, and four interceptions.

He learned from those experiences and the game has appeared to slow down for him.

Huntley had a stellar collegiate career at Utah, going 23-10 as the starter, which ranks third all-time in career wins at the school. He broke school records in career completion percentage (.672) and single-season completion percentage (.730), yards per pass completion (14.1), passing efficiency (177.55) and total offense yards per play (8.3).

He was signed by the Ravens as an undrafted rookie.

The Ravens are currently haggling over a new contract with Jackson and it’s uncertain whether they will be able to reach a deal.

This makes Huntley even more valuable to the team because he knows the culture.

As a result, the Ravens will like to keep him around.

“The way that he’s operating the offense, communication has been really good,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “He’s getting out and scrambling and making plays with his feet and keeping the defense on us that way. I really wanted him to get out of bounds there. He’s laughing. I really, really wanted him to get out of bounds there, but he decides to take on two guys and goes ahead and gets the first down.

“So, you know how that goes. But, he’s a competitor. He’s a competitor. You love all the things about him, but probably that is the most.”
