After their Week 5 victory over the Bengals, the Ravens are sitting at the top of the AFC North! While they are only ahead by a single win, it is plain as day that the Ravens are not a team to take lightly. Lamar Jackson is in MVP form. The receiver corps is performing better than any non-Ravens fans expected. On top of that, the Ravens have numerous players on the brink of return from injury. Tyus Bowser, David Ojabo, & Gus Bus, to name a few. If the league wasn’t already worried about playing this team, they will be. Very soon.
Outside of Mark Andrews and Hayden Hurst, there weren’t really any elite fantasy performances. Not going to lie, it may be another tough outing, fantasy wise, for Ravens players this week. The Giants possess, sneakily, one of the better defensive groups in the league. Lets dive into some guys that we may want to consider starting or benching!
Ravens-Giants Fantasy Outlook
Start ‘Em
Mark Andrews
I wont make a bold call, just to make a bold call. I am benching any Ravens besides Lamar or Andrews. The Giants give up the 4th fewest fantasy PPG overall but they are a bit more forgiving to TE’s (Rank 11th). Andrews has secured an ENORMOUS target share thus far. With a nearly 33% target share, and 38% in the red zone, Andrews is as much of a sure thing as it gets. He is clearly being started in every league.
It feels gross to put Jones in the start ’em spot, but he is a streaming option this week. The Ravens have given up the 2nd most points to fantasy QBs (although that number is skewed due to a couple massive games). The Giants will likely be playing from behind most of the game which creates a great game script for Jones. While the Giants receiver corps is a bit depleted, that bodes well for Jones rushing wise. He has carried the ball a minimum of six times in every game this season. Last week, he rushed the ball 10 times. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Giants give the Ravens a taste of their own medicine, and run an option play in the red zone. I like Jones’s odds at a solid game this week, as this game will be solely in the hands of Jones and Saquon Barkley if they want any chance at a win.
Sleepin’ around the league
While Geno may not be considered a sleeper anymore, most of us are not high enough on him this week. Geno has had three consecutive games of 20+ fantasy points. Now, the Seahawks take on the Cardinals dangerous offense, but atrocious defense. It is really a coin flip on who wins this game. But we do know that both teams can put up some points. This game will be competitive all the way down to the final whistle. With Rashaad Penny out for the season, the rookie Kenneth Walker will be taking the lion’s share of the RB opportunities. But, he is still a rookie. In a game like this, the Seahawks will need to rely on their veteran QB, who has been playing out of his mind compared to expectations. I expect Geno to throw the ball early and often against the Cardinals that let up the 5th most fantasy points to QB’s,
Singletary has reached double-digit fantasy points only once this season. That changes this week. The Bills take on the Chiefs in what should be a shootout (and should be a prime time game). You would expect RBs to have big games against bad teams due to game script. But for some reason, Singletary is better this season in close games. When the Bills get ahead, they throw in Zack Moss to reduce Singletary’s workload. In close games (like their upset loss to Miami), the Bills keep their best back, Singletary, on the field. In that game, he was targeted 11 times! As the cherry on top, the Chiefs are bottom 10 in rush defense and let up the 5th most points to RB’s.
If Tee Higgins is out, I love Tyler Boyd this week. The Bengals take on the Saints in what should be a close game if Jameis Winston plays. The Saints defense is top 10 in both run and pass defense, but somehow let up the 9th most fantasy points to WR’s. Boyd hasn’t cleared double digit points since Week 3 against the Jets. Boyd will hit double digit points this week if Higgins is sidelined. Even if Higgins plays, Marshon Lattimore will be focused on either Higgins or chase. Boyd will be an afterthought and will make the Saints pay.
There really aren’t any streaming options at TE this week that I am big on. But if you’re in a pinch, you could do worse than Dissly. He is a threat to score a TD every week and now plays the Cardinals that let up the 2nd most points to TE’s. As we talked about with Geno, the game script is there and the Seahawks will need to score a good amount of points.
