If the Baltimore Ravens’ Monday practice was a chicken wing flavor, it would be honey barbecue; this practice was short, sweet, and to the point. It surely wasn’t spicy.

After practice, John Harbaugh addressed the media. The cornerback situation is certainly an issue the team has to deal with, with Harbaugh revealing that Damarion Williams will have surgery on his ankle again and may not be back until October. In addition, the Ravens are still waiting on Rock Ya-Sin, Jaylon Armour- Davis and former Steelers cornerback, Arthur Maulet to make their way back from injury. The head coach described all three as being varying levels of “close” to returning, so make of that what you will.

Kyu Kelly and Brandon Stephens look solid. Marlon Humphrey is excellent. The group needs more bodies though, and more help.

After practice, they added a few defensive backs that will likely just be camp bodies:

Harbaugh also said that Tyler Huntley tweaked his hamstring against Philly, and the team will be careful with him. James Proche has a hip contusion, and when you combine missing practice with his fumble the other night, Proche’s roster spot is certainly looking shaky. In addition to Huntley, Isaiah Likely and Ronnie Stanley were both also absent today.

This practice featured some individual drills, some walk-throughs, and just a little offense vs. defense action. Sean Ryan propelled the good momentum that he started with his four-reception performance against the Philadelphia Eagles, making a couple of impressive receptions. Lamar Jackson hit Odell Beckham for a smooth-looking completion on an intermediate throw to the outside.

J.K. Dobbins returned to practice. There’s not much to say about it, as Dobbins had a light warm-up day with some individual drills, but it was certainly encouraging to see 27 out there again.

The Ravens were going over some things and slowing down the pace of practice. After just completing their first preseason contest, and about to crank things up a bit when they host the Washington Commanders for joint practices, it was a work day, yet they weren’t grinding it out. Again: honey barbecue.

Practice with the Commanders should certainly introduce some additional spicy flavors.
