Campbell Deal Will Affect the Ravens and Brandon Stephens

Having impressed since being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021, the EverBank Stadium franchise has moved to tie down talented cornerback Tyson Campbell to a massive new contract, one that makes him one of the best-paid players in his position in the entire NFL.

The 24-year-old has put pen to paper on a deal worth a reported $76.5 million and runs for four years, with $53.4 million guaranteed. This puts him on an annual deal worth $19.3 million, with Green Bay Packers star Jaire Alexander currently the best-paid cornerback in the league, earning $21 million per season.

Under Doug Pederson, the Jacksonville Jaguars have been much improved, winning the AFC South in his first season in charge and getting to the Divisional Playoffs in 2022 before a more mediocre season last time around. Fans who feel that their side can make a sustained impact in the postseason might want to make use of these amazing NFL betting promos to help make their bets almost risk-free, therefore making any potential payout all the sweeter.

On getting Campbell to sign a new deal, general manager Trent Baalke was full of praise for the Floridian,

“Tyson is a young, talented player who is an integral part of our defense and core member of our locker room,”

“He is a consummate professional on and off the field, and we are confident that his best lies ahead. We have consistently messaged the importance of extending our core players, and this is another step forward in honoring that commitment.” Baalke added.

Pederson is clearly keen on retaining his top talents, having gotten the likes of Josh Hines-Allen and star quarterback Trevor Lawrence to sign on the dotted line in recent months.

On extending his stay with the Jaguars, Campbell commented enthusiastically,

“I’m blessed to stay in Jacksonville, and thankful God is allowing me to continue building something special with my brothers on the field and in the community,”

“I want to thank the Jaguars for making my NFL dreams come true three years ago and for still believing in me today.”

Last season will be one that many in the organization will look to put firmly in the rearview mirror. After beating the Houston Texans in NFL Game Week 12, the Jaguars were excellently placed at 8-3 before their collapse began. Losses to the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens and Tampa Bay Buccaneers left the franchise reeling. They battled back to defeat the Carolina Panthers 26-0 but then lost out to the Tennessee Titans in the final regular season game to put them out of playoff contention.

For his part, Pederson is using this collapse to fuel a strong season.

“I don’t know if I’ll ever get over it,”

“I think for me, it’s going to be my motivation, my fuel moving forward, and I’m not going to let it cloud the vision, but at the same time it’s going to be close in my mind as I move forward with the team this spring,” Pederson stated back in late March.

Jacksonville Jaguars will hope this has indeed proved a strong motivation for what is to come, with the season on the horizon and the team heading to the Hard Rock Stadium to meet the Miami Dolphins in the season opener on September 8th.

  1. SMH really. Have the feeling that the Texans and Colts will have a lot to say about the final outcome.
What happens when the Jaguars come up short again. Just saying not high on them.
