Lamar Jackson is unquestionably one of the best NFL quarterbacks never to win a Super Bowl. The question being asked here is, does the 27-year-old need a championship ring to cement his legacy? Let’s dive straight in to find out.
Does Lamar Jackson need to win a Super Bowl ring to cement his legacy?
There is no doubt that the Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson is one of the best quarterbacks in the league right now. Others say that he is one of the greatest of all time.
However, to cement his legacy as a true icon of the sport, most people will agree that he needs to win a championship ring, whether that’s with the Ravens or any other NFL team.
If he doesn’t ever win a championship ring, he will always be remembered by most as one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks who never won a Super Bowl/NFL championship ring.
It’s one of several awards given to team members for winning the annual Super Bowl, and each ring is said to be worth somewhere in the region of $30,000 to $50,000 each. However, the monetary value is of little importance when it comes to owning a ring.
How good is Lamar Jackson?
Lamar Jackson is a two-time MVP (Most Valuable Player) award winner. He first picked up this coveted accolade in 2019 and then again as recently as 2023. Here are a few of his most notable individual awards picked up during his time as a professional football player:
- NFL MVP (2019, 2023)
- NFL Top 100 Rankings: #1 in 2020, #24 in 2021, #36 in 2022, #72 in 2023, and #2 in 2024

- First-team All-Pro (2019, 2023)
- AFC Offensive Player of the Week/Month: Multiple occasions
- Pro Bowl (2019, 2021, and 2023)
He also won the Sporting News Offensive Player of the Year award in 2019 and the 2019 Kansas City Committee of 101 awards AFC Offensive Player of the Year award.

One Response
Yes , Lamar can win all the individual awards , MVP, Offensive Player etc. but until he wins a Super Bowl he will not be respected as those others mentioned. Patrick Mahomes who has three Super Bowls and has beaten Lamar every time albeit not all Lamar’s fault as I am a believer not just one player wins the team does, but still he needs to win the BIIG one or else he is just another great QB who will never be seen as one of the greatest.
