I’m not exactly sure why, but it bothers me when the Ravens website promotes voting their players into the Pro Bowl. I get that in some ways BR.com is a propaganda machine for the team – a promotional vehicle of sorts that even during a down year like 2015, gives fans the vibe that all in Ravens Nation is good.
Maybe they just feel the Holiday Spirit all through the year over there at the official site.
I suppose there’s nothing wrong with that.
But it got me to thinking, who among the Ravens is really deserving of Pro Bowl status?
I must admit that my inner Scrooge hopes that none of the Ravens go across the pond to Honolulu. A team that is likely to finish 4-12 shouldn’t get any “participation” awards, right?
But if I had to pick a player or two to send to the land of pineapples and coconuts, it would have to be Sam Koch and Marshal Yanda.
A punter’s job is to flip field position and Koch with the help of a very solid punt coverage unit, does that better than anyone. His 59 punts so far have netted 44.2 yards on average, a league best.
Yanda, grades out as the best guard in the NFL per Pro Football Focus.
Other than that, no one is deserving of Pro Bowl status.
No one is deserving of your vote.
Here are this week’s quick hits to get you ready for the Ravens v. Chiefs.
