ORLANDO, Fla. — The NFL is monitoring Ray Rice’s legal situation and is waiting for the legal process to unfold before deciding whether to take action against the Baltimore Ravens running back.

Rice was arrested in February after an altercation with his fiancée at an Atlantic City casino. Rice and his fiancée were both charged with simple assault-domestic violence.

It’s possible that Rice could be suspended, but commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters Wednesday at the annual NFL owners meetings, “We’ll let the facts dictate that.”

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said Monday that team president Dick Cass has been dealing with the NFL in regards to the Rice, but Bisciotti said he is not sure what to expect in terms of a suspension.

Either way, Bisciotti made it clear that Rice will be part of Baltimore’s team this season.

“Ray has built up too much good will in our locker room, on the football field, in the building and in the community, so we’re going to let him deal with this,” Bisciotti said. “This is devastating to Ray and his fiancée. It’s embarrassing. It’s humiliating.

“But what I’ve seen from Ray the last six years, he’s going to become a better man because of it. … We’ll monitor it and we’ll support Ray, and we’ll take advantage of Ray and his dedication to winning back people that may be put off by what happened.”
