The Baltimore Ravens signed 5th-year RB Musa Smith to a 1-year contract Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome announced today.
“It’s good to have Musa back,†said Newsome. “Having surgery during the season put him ahead in his recovery. He will be ready for the start of training camp. Whenever we’ve put him on the field, he’s produced. We’re looking forward to having a healthy Musa help us.â€
Originally drafted in the 3rd round in 2003, Smith has played in 33 games and has averaged 4.1 yards per carry (57 att. for 232 yards and 2 TDs). He has pulled in 27 receptions for 171 yards and 24 special teams tackles.
“Receiving this contract and being back in Baltimore means a lot,†Smith said. “I’m thankful for the Ravens sticking with me throughout a tough year. I’m really planning on having a great season next year. I’m glad they wanted me back. We didn’t know what would happen after the year, and here I am, back for one more year, and I am excited to be back.â€
