Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder interviewed Schwartz on Thursday night. He’s also scheduled to meet today with the Atlanta Falcons and with the Miami Dolphins on Monday.
An Arbutus native and Mt. St. Joseph graduate who worked for three years in Baltimore as a defensive assistant under former Ravens coach Ted Marchibroda, Schwartz interviewed for the San Francisco 49ers job that went to Mike Nolan in 2005.
The Titans finished fifth overall in total defense last season after finishing last a year ago.
Schwartz, 41, has been mentioned as a potential candidate for the Ravens’ vacancy, which was created last week when team owner Steve Bisciotti fired coach Brian Billick.
The Georgetown graduate worked for the Cleveland Browns as a college and pro scout prior to their move to Maryland. He has been the Titans’ defensive coordinator for seven seasons.
The Ravens, who have interviewed Indianapolis Colts assistant head coach Jim Caldwell, Dallas Cowboys assistant head coach Tony Sparano, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett, recently-dismissed Baltimore defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, who has also interviewed with the Falcons and Dolphins and been rumored to be a potential candidate for the Redskins’ opening although he hasn’t been contacted yet, New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer and Philadelphia Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh, didn’t conduct any interviews for the second consecutive day Thursday.
Former San Diego Chargers coach Marty Schottenheimer, who coached general manager Ozzie Newsome in Cleveland, has been contacted by the Ravens and could discuss the position with team officials later on during the search.
