The Baltimore Ravens will host auditions for their 2008 cheerleading squad on Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 at the Downtown Athletic Club. Saturday registration will be held between 9:30–11:00 a.m., and material will be taught from 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Tryouts will begin at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday and run from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
“Entering our 11th cheerleading season, we are excited about the upcoming possibilities,†said Ravens cheerleaders coordinator Tina Galdieri. “Cheerleading tryouts are not only a time when new people can step up and join our team, but veterans are also expected to improve their skills to remain on the team. As a coach, it is always inspirational to see people work hard in order to achieve their goals. We look forward to seeing the talented athletes who will strive to become a part of the Ravens’ organization.â€
Approximately 150-200 male and female hopefuls will participate in open tryouts with 45 making the final squad. All participants, as well as cheerleader coaches Tina Galdieri and Tracy Ricker, will be available for interviews on Saturday (prior to 11:00 a.m.) and Sunday (prior to 11:30 a.m.).
Additionally, tryouts for the Ravens Playmakers squad, the organization’s elite promotions team, will be held on Sunday, March 2 at the Downtown Athletic Club. They make appearances throughout the Baltimore area and, although they do not perform on gameday, they promote fan interaction and fun at home games.
“We are excited about the Playmakers. We hope to build an even stronger team,†said Jenifer Pileggi, Playmakers coordinator. “The combination of returning veterans along with some new faces should lead to an exciting year for the Playmakers. It is my hope that more people understand what the program is about and decide to join in and be a part of the newest addition to the Ravens organization.â€
