Reed was cut by the Dolphins last week prior to the NFL draft.
The 6-foot-1, 197-pounder spent last season shuffling between the Dolphins’ practice squad and active roster. A former Michigan State starter, Reed caught 64 passes for 775 yards and five touchdowns as a senior.
The Ravens signed a pair of exclusive-rights free agents: tight end Jake Nordin (Northern Illinois) and wide receiver Matt Willlis (UCLA).
Willis began last season on the Ravens’ practice squad before being activated late in the season to catch one pass for 11 yards.
Meanwhile, the Ravens are bringing in undrafted former Florida State quarterback Xavier Lee for a tryout.
The 6-4, 240-pounder declared early for the draft after the Seminoles’ coaching staff asked him to move to tight end for his senior year.
Lee was named Mr. Football as a high school senior in Daytona Beach, but had a star-crossed career at FSU with six career starts. He was suspended for three other games due to skipping classes.
He was one of the 36 athletes who were ruled ineligible for the Music City Bowl due to an academic cheating scandal. Lee led the Seminoles to a victory over Alabama last season, but committed four turnovers one month later in a loss to Miami and lost his starting job.
For his career, Lee completed just 51.3 percent of his passes for 2,323 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while rushing for 217 yards and five touchdowns.
Lee is regarded as athletic enough that he could be utilized at quarterback, tight end or wide receiver. He spent the past few months working with former NFL offensive coordinator Marc Trestman.
He was the top-ranked dual-threat quarterback coming out of Seabreeze High School by most recruiting analysts as he set the Florida’s all-time prep records for passing yards (9,082), touchdowns (98) and completions (549).
"I’m surprised he didn’t go back to Florida State because there was talk of maybe making him a tight end," ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said during a conference call. "He’s going to have to come in as a free agent and make a football team."
