PRO: Cedric Peerman was selected in the 6th round (185th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft…“Cedric is a downhill guy with very, very good speed,” Ravens director of player personnel Eric DeCosta noted. “He’s as tough as they come with good hands. He’s been a very productive special teams guy. He’s got a tough mindset. He’s a lunch-pail type guy. He was another ‘red star’ for us this year. Guys who get this distinction have a temperament and countenance we want – toughness, high character and intelligence, leadership and competitiveness.”


 

COLLEGE: Played 41 games with 18 starts over his career, becoming the 36th Cavalier to rush for over 1,000 career yards, finishing with a total of 1,749 yards on the ground with 15 TDs, adding to that 1,256 yards from 50 KORs and 67 receptions for 344 yards and 1 TD…Peerman’s 3,349 all-purpose yards rank 10th in Virginia’s annals…His career-long 79-yard run vs. East Carolina in 2008 tied Ray Brown (vs. Hampden-Sydney, 1946) and Barry Word (vs. Georgia Tech, 1985) for the 7th-longest run from scrimmage in Cavalier history…Over his career, Virginia went 11-2 when Peerman had at least 15 rushing attempts…Graduated in May 2008 with a sociology degree.


 

2008: Named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorable mention squad after leading the team with a career-high 774 yards on 153 carries (5.1 avg.) and 7 TDs…Was named the ACC Offensive Back of the Week after recording his career-long 79-yard run against ECU in Week 5…Ranked 4th in the ACC with an average of 70.4 rushing yards per game, and he ran for over 100 yards 3 times…Ranked 3rd on the team with 44 receptions for 193 yards (4.4 avg.) and returned 5 KOs for 108 yards (21.6 avg.)… Led the Cavaliers with 1,075 all-purpose yards (9th in the league), averaging 97.4 yards per game.

 

2007: Had a dynamic start to the season before a foot injury in Week 6 caused him to need surgery…Led the team with 585 rushing yards and 5 TDs on 113 carries (5.2 avg.) during a season that culminated with the Cavaliers’ appearance in the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl…Finished the year with 771 all-purpose yards, catching 13 passes for 99 yards (7.6 avg.) and returning 5 KOs for 87 yards (17.4 avg.)…Was the 1st Cavalier since 2004 to run for over 100 yards in 3 games.


 

2006: Played in 12 games with 1 start…Ranked 12th in the nation with 19 KORs for 519 yards (27.3 avg.)…Rushed for 153 yards on 46 carries (3.3 avg.) and caught 7 passes for 38 yards (5.4 avg.).


 

2005: Saw action in all 12 games, making his 1stcareer start vs. Syracuse…Virginia won the Music City Bowl during a season that saw Peerman accumulate 70 carries for 237 yards (3.4 avg.) and 3 TDs…He caught 3 receptions for 14 yards (4.7 avg.) and 1 TD and was 22nd in the nation with 21 KORs for 542 yards (25.8 avg.).


 

2004: Redshirted his freshman year.


 

High School, Personal: Attended William Campbell (Gladys, VA) HS…Was a PrepStar AII-American and 2-time All-State choice who scored a state-record 708 points and ranks 2nd in state history with 112 TDs…Named the Virginia Player of the Year as a senior after rushing 222 times for 2,016 yards and 43 TDs, while also catching 12 passes for 203 yards and 2 TDs, adding 1 score from a KOR…His 45 TDs led the state, and his 280 points are the 3rd-highest total in Virginia history…Earned 1st-team All-State, All-Region and All-District accolades after his junior year, running for 2,048 yards and 43 scores and catching 22 passes for 367 yards and 7 more TDs…That year his team won the state championship, during which he rushed for 317 yards and scored a state-record 7 TDs…Moved from WR to RB midway through his sophomore season…Also started on the basketball team, and a standout sprinter and long jumper on the track team…Won 2 state championships in the 100 meters as a junior and senior, while also placing 4th in the long jump and triple jump, and 8th in the shot put, to lead his school to state championship his senior year…He received the DAR Good Citizen Award for the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism as a senior in high school…Full name: Cedric Edwin Peerman.
