Mack Brown: Sergio Kindle has narcolepsy
By Aaron Wilson
WESTMINSTER — University of Texas coach Mack Brown has a theory about what happened to Baltimore Ravens rookie linebacker Sergio Kindle.
During the Big 12 media day today, per OrangeBloods.com, Brown told reporters that Kindle might have fallen down two flights of stairs due to narcolepsy.
The former Longhorns star is in the hospital with a fractured skull and has been ruled out of training camp.
There were reports prior to the NFL draft, where Kindle was picked in the second round, that the Dallas native suffers from narcolepsy, attention deficit disorder and that he fell asleep during team meetings.
The Ravens, specifically general manager Ozzie Newsome and director of college scouting Eric DeCosta, seemed amused when asked about the reports that Kindle takes medication for narcolepsy and ADD. Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder involving sleeping issues.
"If it was a concern, we probably wouldn’t have drafted him," DeCosta said.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh has said that Kindle fell after waking up in the middle of the night at a house in Austin, Texas when he stumbled around in the dark.
