Ed Reed’s brother in team’s thoughts and prayers

OWINGS MILLS — The oldest brother of Baltimore Ravens free safety Ed Reed said the family is praying for a safe outcome after their youngest brother, Brian Reed, who dove into the Mississippi River to elude police after a traffic stop.

Wendell Reed told Ravens24x7.com that there are no plans right now for Ed Reed to go to Louisiana to be with his family.

"Ed’s OK," Wendell Reed said in a telephone interview from the family’s home in St. Rose, La.. "He’s upbeat. He’s getting the same information relayed to him. We are praying for him."

"We are holding out hope that he’s going to be okay. It’s an ongoing investigation and we haven’t spoken to detectives."

Wendell Reed said that the family is holding out hope that Brian Reed will be okay.

He said he didn’t know why police were pursuing him.

Karen Reed, Reed’s mother, told media in Louisiana that Brian Reed has struggled in the past with drugs and alcohol.

A former NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Ed Reed led the NFL with eight interceptions this season.

He has no history of off-field problems.
