Could Oniel Cousins start in Cleveland?

The Cleveland Browns claimed former Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Oniel Cousins off waivers Tuesday. The move could be one of desperation. Cleveland starting left guard Eric Stienbach likely will miss the start of the season — if not more — with a serious back injury.

Could Cousins start in Cleveland?

The Browns have a big hole at guard if Steinbach cannot return. Rookie Jason Pinkston and free-agent signing John Greco are other possibilities. Cousins will get every opportunity these next two weeks to compete.

Ravens fans aren’t too upset Cousins is going to a division rival. He struggled mightily this summer in Baltimore. He was the team’s starting right tackle a few weeks ago. Then, Cousins was shifted to guard and eventually waived after Baltimore signed Bryant McKinnie.

Cousins will get a fresh opportunity in Cleveland. But he needs to play much better than he did in Baltimore to earn playing time in his new home.
