Steelers fans once again get their panties in a bunch

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Once again another towel waver is upset with my video, and once again I’ve been asked to respond.

Frankly, fans of the black and gold aren’t worth my time and I could care less about their feelings. I’m even more upset that I have to take time out of my Saturday and separate myself from college football and a case of Bud Light.

Jim Breakwell, a Chicago born and Baltimore based Steelers fan took issue with my video and I don’t care. Jim, just like most other Steelers fans, has decided to get vocal and prove their intelligence, or lack thereof. Want proof? Here’s the link.

I could care less for Jim’s reasoning for being a Steelers fan or what path he took to swallow enough pride to wave around a terrible towel. For many men, the impression left on their life by their grandfathers has been significant. If Jim’s grandfather is the reason for his passion for the Steelers, then so be it. The exact same thing can be said for my grandfather and myself; he’s same man I’ve looked up to and call before, at half time and after every Ravens game.

Once again for bonehead Steelers fans, this video was about the LACK OF KNOWLEDGE their fan base has for the very team they twirl towels for every weekend. My theory of most Steelers fans being morons and dressing up in black and gold because it’s the “hip” thing to do was proven and continues to be proven true.

Sure, the fans of Baltimore football have many things Steelers fans can chastise them for; a previous franchise owner who loved booze, a 14-year gap without a franchise and a non-favorable record when it counts versus the Steelers are all things we’ve heard countless times from those y’inzers.

The truth is, even if the Ravens have 17 starting quarterbacks in 16 years, most fans could name AT LEAST the last three under center. I do not understand why Steelers fans poke fun at growing pains of a franchise when theirs was HORRIFIC for their first 14 years. SHUT IT!

I’m not going to sit here and debate every little thing these fans have a problem with. The point of my video was to help expose a random group of Steelers fans and just ask them simple questions that any fan should know.

A passionate fan should know simple team history. The questions asked weren’t loaded; these people weren’t picked because they looked like morons; everyone was picked at random and everyone I interviewed was shown (besides the bar owner) and ALL the correct answers were shown.

Most Ravens fans can answer these questions, so there is no logical excuse why Steelers fans shouldn’t know them too.

“Real” Steelers fans should be and probably are embarrassed with the results of this video because the amount of bandwagon-fandom that surrounds their team.

The one prideful thing I love about the Ravens is the fact of how few bandwagon fans there are. Most people I see out of state with Ravens paraphernalia are FROM Baltimore and can hold an intelligent conversation about their football team.

So Steelers fans, I’m done speaking to you, we’ll let the teams do the talking on Sunday. Win, lose or draw, I can wake up on Monday morning knowing that I’m still a proud member of a franchise with REAL fans that are passionate about this team and actually know something about the people we cheer for week in and week out.
