Same old Ravens, a 3rd quarter lead lost in the 4th quarter. A late fumble converted for a TD by Big Ben, an offense that stalls when the defense need them to step. That deer in the headlights look when the game is on the line. Why can’t we get it done? This was all going through my head late in the 4th quarter as it looked like the Ravens had let victory slip away. Be honest, how many of you turned off the TV? I received plenty of "goodnight" texts with about 4 minutes left on the clock. I was texting with a number of diehard fans about how frustrating it is to lose to the Steelers.
Then it happened, Joe Flacco became a man. He took this team and carried them on his back. Yes, he carried the offense on his back like a franchise QB. There was no deer in the headlights stare only confidence as he stepped up in the pocket to deliver his passes. It was 92 yards and 2:24 seconds of football bliss. Was it heart stopping when Torrey Smith couldn’t hang on to the first TD attempt? It was! Was it just as heart stopping when Torrey Smith caught the game winner? It was!
It was a stunning win, draining, exhausting and finally exhilarating.
Could this have been the defining drive of Joe Flacco’s career? Only time will tell. My hope is that next week we will see four quarters of this Joe.
Did we witness the beginning of ‘Ravens Magic’? Its certainly a great day to be a Ravens fan!
